GOES-E Fall 2007 Eclipse and Keep Out Zone Schedule

#1 Postby AJC3 » Mon Aug 13, 2007 12:08 pm

Please don't throw rocks at the messenger...

Here's the GOES-E Fall 2007 Eclipse and Keep Out Zone Schedule - Issued 8/7/07
Date/Time of Initial Impact: August 13, 2007

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/GOES/EA ... -Rout.html

Many of you are already familiar with this, but for those who may be new to the forum, and are not aware of the GOES "eclipse" period...to make a long story short...just in time for the heart of hurricane season...from now until well into October there will be a span of missing images from GOES-12 (GOES-E) during the overnight hours. The span will be short at first, but will increase to ~3 hours at it's peak.

I know, I know, let me save you the bandwidth by saying it first: :grr: :grrr: :x :grrr: :grr: :grrr: :grr: :x :grrr:

I've had enough "carp" myself. That's not a very good eatin' fish.

The next generation GOES satellite (which is already parked in orbit but held dormant until this one dies) will not have this problem.
