the recon obs tend to verify this , and that there is a broad center

the plane just flew down the 90 longitude line thru the storm for it's first pass

23 knots at i beleive 600 feet was the best so far (might want to check that 1)

Click on this link to see where the recon's pressure measurements have been relative to where the National Hurricane Center's last two estimated positions.

The models are tightly clustered just North of Brownsville. I would be preparing if I were in Brownsville or Corpus.

So, we have a LLC but the winds are not strong enough to be declared a depression?

Too early to call in my opinion. It all depends on where the
center ends up forming.

I think they have found high enough winds for a minimal depression so far..but they are still looking and will probably find higher winds. We will see..

I thought there wasn't a maximum needed on winds for a depression... just under 39mph.

circulation does not appear to be weel enough defined for a vortex message

However, I have seen a lot less given names in the GOM, so we'll have to wait and see

But if in the case of finding winds like 15 mph and a 1007 mb well-defined LLC, the NHC won't upgrade it to depression. Just a hypothesis, not that this is the case.

I have never seen the NHC or any other agency upgrading a system to 20 or 25 mph.
