I Never Travel Without My....

#1 Postby azskyman » Tue Jun 24, 2003 7:42 am

OK...so most of us are beyond needing our blankies on a trip, although I suspect there are some who still fold theirs up and make sure it is in the suitcase.

But...whether it's an overnight or a two week trip, there are some things people take along to help them look good, sleep good, or just plain have a good time.

So what's your "necessity?" Your own pillow? A favorite book? Game Boy? Crossword puzzles? Music CD's?

My own pillow, a goose down pillow, gotta have it, PLUS a huggy pillow "LOL!" I have to have snacks when I drive, say like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and above anything else, Beef Jerky!

Altho I haven't been out of Kentucky in about 20 years, when we used to go on vacation , I would never leave without my pillow. My grandmother made it...its just a single sized pillow with old striped ticking, but it's mine :) Besides, who wants a pillow that someone else has drooled on * giggles *

My PILLOW. That thing has travelled across the world! I have had it since the day I was born, and it is as flat as a pancake. I actually dont put my head on it, I cuddle it  It is really strange, because I hate sleeping with my head raised, but I cant sleep without my cuddle pillow :) ! The other thing I take with me when I travel is my bible. Have to have my daily bread :)

Aaron, you sound like my brother in law. He takes his laptop computer everywhere (and his golf clubs :D

I also cannot leave home without my asthma medication....my music (CD's and CD player)...and something to write on (notebook/ paper).

Also, between June 1st and November 15th, I NEVER leave home without a hurricane tracking chart. :D

I can't wait to get my laptop :)

I have to also agree with Amanzi. Before I left for Russia my church presented me with a medium travel sized Bible with my name on the front. I would have to have it with me as well...OR.....a bible CD for my LAPTOP! :D

CD's/Music in the car ... the variety of radio stations doesn't suit my personal tastes ... though, the closest is 96Wave in Charleston, though, most of the heavier music is reserved for evening and nighttime hours ...

Music for work as well or a walkman for days at work I do not work the window and directly deal with the general public on the job.

This is a must have ... otherwise, the day will go by way too slowly and it gets awfully boring listening to a silent building and your thoughts are the loudest thing in the room ...

Unfortuantely...the cell phone. Someday I am going to be like the guy in the commercial...sail that thing right out into the blue blue sea!!!

And also...as a sleep aid, we have a "noise machine." Sounds like whistling wind and drowns out other noises. Same for my whole family...they all have 'em. Called a "Sleep Mate," I became hooked on night sounds in Vietnam when I needed a fan running full blast to keep the bugs off me. From that day forward....I needed that sound.

Pillows are popular items for many of you. Thought I'd hear more about music and MP3 players and such.

Anyone take an extra pair of glasses? I learned the hard way.

one of my friends broke her glasses by accident....she's legally blind without her glasses or contacts!

If by any chance my classes break, well then its contacts for the daytime....thankfully, I can see awesome without my glasses...I just hope I don't have to read anything.

A good book! I love to read when I travel. I can polish off a good Tom Clancy book in a couple of days on the road :-)
