We are getting rain in the western and southern portions of the Houston area, but nothing substantial that I can see atm. The areas to our SW, still saturated from earlier rains are getting pounded with rain that they still do not need.
Spoke too soon. Now getting a feederband with strong tstorms and copious lightning and thunder. NOw had .5" in the last 20 minutes. Looks like we will see a few more of these today in Houston, but maybe not an all day rain event like I was expecting.

Not sure if they are getting stronger, but they are training in your area. Definitely they are stronger than when I woke up! I hear you on the dog. Ours has been "shadowing" one or the other of us wherever we go including the bathroom!!!

Loud crashes of thunder can be heard where I am. I am at the south intersection of I 45 and I 610. We got some rain in Humble this morning, but not much. Yet.

Even caught a band driving into work this morning either in eastern Lafourche or St. Charles Parish on the US 90. My truck, new tires and all, was hydroplaning a little.
Radio reported that the storm went inland about 35 miles north of Corpus Christi, so my forecast from a few days ago was off. I really thought it would develop and come in farther south.
Stay dry in Texas.

LOL karl. There should be a general rain sheild. You just don't want to get caught under one of the moister/feeder channels off the Gulf. Last I checked on Corups and Galveston radar, there were about 4 of them. With the storm migrating westward, it's not like those feeder arms are going to swing hard east or west like what happens with a north moving storm. 3-5" and upwards to 9 or 10" should be the general rule for the Central Texas Coast. Bad, but could be a lot worse IMHO.

Re: Tropical Storm ERIN: Discussions, Analysis and Imagery
Texas should be breathing a sigh of relief today. Erin never became a hurricane (like Derek once suggested) and it never became that well organized. Just a rain maker.
And if that is not enough, model guidance continues to suggest further a Yucatan and Mexico impact instead of U.S. In fact, according to M Watkins..."Mexico, No US Impact: 60%
Mexico and US Impact: 35%
US Impact Only: 5%"
Sure things will change, but for now, things are looking good for Texas and Louisiana.
