I'm confused by the landfall location. NHC says near Lamar, TX, but Google Maps puts Lamar in NE TX??

Well it finally got together right at landfall. I have been very busy at work, I'll have to dig-up some radar data, but it looks like it did come ashore just NE of CC.

Been getting a lot of thunder & lightning from this band over Houston all morning.

Remember that Erin is still officially a TD. The NHC is only transferring responsibility to the HPC because Erin is not forecast to move back over water. Erin is no longer a TD when the HPC says so.

Hooo-weeeeee! That is one nasty cell/ line heading up I-45 and out along US 290. Nonstop electrical activity under the Dome right now, and very dark and threatening. Gotta go empty some pool water before the worst of that cell gets here.

Was just in Med Center and heading north out of it up Main/Montrose and into Upper Kirby area. Sheesh, the streets are bad. Rain falling in blinding sheets, roads flooded almost all the way across (W. Alabama, anyway). Staying where I am for now - don't want to get caught out in this mess again.

I thought they were supposed to fix the Med Center flooding after Allison. Have to say I'm not very impressed. Water was gushing up out of manholes like a geyser.

Dopper estimates of 2-2.5" per hour on the S side of town. Could have a serious event unfolding if this lasts more than a few hours.

Yes, I don't think it would be a good idea to lock this thread until Houston is safe from the possible major flooding that will occur if the rain continues to train. This is a good location for people to report to one another on what is happening in their part of town. I think we are in the middle of the real Erin effects right now and should keep this forum going as a way to discuss road/traffic/flooding issues. Raining in sheets in the Galleria area right now and I'm wondering just how late I'll be getting home tonight... ugh.

The way that radar is shaping up, looks like some training rains in store for quite some time in west Houston.

Anyone watching channel 13 or channel 2? LOTS of flooding around the south loop. Traffic just a mess and the usual suspects with flooded cars in feeder road intersections.

we had a brief shower this morning, last night was eerie though... went outside to have a smoke..sky was really clear to the west, north and even for a good ways southwest but it was like you could hear thunder still, and twice while I was out there it was like there was lightning but there were no clouds it was like a strobe light going off for a 2-3 seconds but it wasnt up in the sky it was at ground level. Been in these parts 30+ years and have never seen or experienced that. That being said Beaumont is humid as usual and hot havent seen a shower for a couple of hours.
