Re: Hurricane DEAN:(Page 106) Discussions, Analysis and Imagery

wow. what a time for me to start posting again.

Living in south central Louisiana, I definitely have an eye out for this and Im very worried about how optimal the conditions are with not much to weaken or impede the storm. I have to say though, it really is a very beautiful storm with great outflow in all directions. you cant help but be humbled by this. This is mother Natures most powerful force.

More like $4 to $5 a gallon. I better trade in that Hummer I just bought.

So the Euro has that Atlantic Low riding the High across Florida and helping keep dean in Mexico... Is this a fairly realistic possibility?

Euro still due west and far south. Just like the GFS has a known bias of putting troughs in the western Atlantic where there will be no troughs, the Euro often has a southern bias with tropical systems. I'm not saying this due to any statecasting. It's cost me a few times on calls where I thought it was right. Don't see the movement based on the east coast synoptics and Sepat.

We shall see.

My prayers are with everyone who may be impacted by the storm.

I mean, this is just horrible.
Not trying to overhype, but that is just the truth.
We've got a very bad situation....

I agree. It's very very bad.

I still say it's way too early to call. IMO

To early to tell that some of the Islands are going to get hammered? That is what I am talking about.

Ignore CPL5 model. It's a wack model that always takes the storm in a crazy direction that never verifies...

well just got off my roof...cleaned up the anemometer and rain guages etc.

i'm amazed @ how windy it is already. The sea is becoming really choppy now and the wind is gusting constantly 25-30mph from the North. I saw a drop from recon @ 21N 61W which is north of antigua and confirmed 20knt winds around this area. I wonder if we will indeed get tropical storm force winds??

On another note; the southern islands like Dominica were completely lost with this hurricane. I spoke to my aunt this morning and her exact words were "It's going to Bermuda". I was so shocked... they had no clue it was aiming directly for them. I pray for the poeple in the southern islands and hope they have adequate time for preparations

Well the Euro definately tends differently than that discussion. I am leaning towards believing the gfdl for now though if any.

Well, once we get the gulfstream data into the models we should have a much better idea of Dean's future track. Like last night, I'm still very conserned with the ULL over the Bahamas. This ULL could be the fly in the ointment.....MGC
