The magnitude has been increased to 7.9.

Additionally, some potentially bad news has arrived:

SEA LEVEL READINGS INDICATE A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED. WE HAVE OBSERVED
A TSUNAMI SIGNAL ON THE DEEP OCEAN GAUGE OFF NORTHERN CHILE.
A TSUNAMI MAY HAVE BEEN GENERATED THAT COULD BE DESTRUCTIVE ALONG
COASTS NEAR THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER AND COULD ALSO BE A THREAT TO
MORE DISTANT COASTS. AUTHORITIES SHOULD
TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION IN RESPONSE TO THIS POSSIBILITY. THIS
CENTER WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR SEA LEVEL DATA TO DETERMINE THE
EXTENT AND SEVERITY OF THE THREAT.

No significant Tsunamis, but it looks like major disaster has occured with the quake itself in Peru. Latest news report has the death toll at 115 and more than 1,000 people injured. It seems the city of Ica is the hardest it:

The flurry of earthquakes off the coast of Peru is interesting. I've got so many USGS reports on the region....it's amazing. Wondering if the continued jolts are being considered aftershocks? An 8.0 is a pretty good lick. I'm surprised that tsunamis were not triggered.

Word of advice: Don't read the comments. When disasters like this happen, the trolls come out to play and everything turns into a big dramafest.
