Because this is a strengthening storm, would that take it longer to weaken over land? Also could you talk about how bad a strengthening cat 5 would be? Katrina in South Florida caught people by surprise because it was strengthening as it came in, but yet was only a cat 1.

Hey aric....92L is not looking like its going to happen as convection has all but diminished with system if it was ever one lol.Adrian

well it looks pretty meager tonight ... its still a large system ... and a fairly strong wave..

so i would not count it out yet :)

Are you seeing the eyewall clearing out? As the eyewall has become more circular, it appears that there is a more NW movement jog. If this holds it would put the eyewall winds N of ascencion bay. All of the penisula is very swampy more towards Tulum, which is more populated again. Swampy area may cause havoc inland farther too ( rememeber Katrina over S FL) Thoughts?
