The hurricane force winds to the north seem to go out over a hundred miles from the eye.

My brother rode out Wilma in a hotel. It took a miracle to get out the next day. I imagine the flooding in land will not be as bad due to the fast movement. That should improve the flow of supplies after it passes.

Makes sense even Cancun was getting gusts to 50 mph or more easily. Got so bad for the reporter outside the resort they had to shut off. That is not good news at all if the windfield indeed has expanded that much. Mannn... just imagine what Deans eyewall is like.

I estimate Chetumal will have the south eyewall pass 10 or less miles to its north.

My opinion isn't endorsed by Storm2k disclaimer

Recons penentrating the inner core. We should have eyewall measurements in the next 30 mins.

Judging by the obs so far, i would assume Dean is still AT LEAST a cat 5. Nice wind readings for not being in the inner core.

Majuhal looks like it will receive a direct hit. God bless any poor souls who rolled the dice on that bet.

anyone have a better link to Cancun radar? This one had been long-range until 1:37 EDT, then the 1:47 one dropped to 240 km range
