I'm Tired Of Reading This...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Stormcenter wrote:Sorry but I guess I'm maybe in the minority here because I love reading that TWO update. Even after almost two years since Katrina,Rita and Wilma I still have no desire to see anything remotely like that anywhere around the U.S. I'm on this board to get information and comment but not to cheer on storms or development like some but not all on this board. I was once like that but I saw what hurricanes could do up close and personal in 2004 and 2005 and it left a lasting affect on me. I'm crossing my fingers we can squeak by another season without a major hit. Just my opinion.

Im with you, 3 days no power in Katrina and 11 days no juice in Wilma was enough for me. I used to think they were exciting until all that happened.

Based on climatology, the "F" storm should form by Sep 12. Still enough time.

Hmm. Out of 22 posts, three wanted more activity. The rest, who also enjoy following storms and are pretty knowledgeable about them both intellectually and a few from hand's on experience, were quite content with the current lack of activity. Statistically, that would show...hmm 8-)

Blown_away wrote:Nobody wants destruction and loss of life, is that clear. The majority of the people on this site are obsessed w/ tropical weather and want something to talk about in the Atlantic, including me. I guess everybody has to be politically correct and say no tropical activity is just fine. I've been thorugh 3 hurricanes in the past 3 years and have experienced stress and financial strain and absolutely don't want a storm to come to SFL and don't want anybody to suffer, that said my obsession wants a storm to track. Sorry just being honest.

I'm so excited to see a honest person on this board! I say something like that and I get screamed at, I am also obsessed with storms and the preperations that comes with getting ready for one, and the chit chat that goes on here with one is out there, its really a boring time right now and look not even anything good to talk about, dont tell me quite is good to talk about theres nothing to say about it shhhhh

For the "knowledgable" people who are content to see "nothing", yet profess to come here for information on "nothing"; the same info is available at the NHC. Forgive me for sounding snotty, but I'm more than tired of being trashed from all of these "experts who have been through it". I come to this forum to talk about Hurricanes, not empty TWO's. And I think it's more than clear that those of us who've waited a year for this special time of year are not wishing for death and distruction to rain down on you or anyone else. We're more than free to talk about the lack of formation out there. Especially since this same group has told us all June and July to wait for this peak. If the experts called for a busy season, and yet at the peak the models aren't forecasting anything, can't we at least discuss why? None of us said the season is closed; another trashing we seem to get during the lulls.

We are hurricane enthusists who enjoy watching these forces of nature. They're going to happen whether you're "tired" of them or not. So don't keep jumping down our throats for our small group looking for the next thing out there. :grr:

I applaud those that keep saying they like to see "no development expected..." but the truth of the matter is that those same people (and most of us here) are thrill seekers that track the systems not because they are a thing of beauty spinning away harmlessly in the open Atlantic but because of the drama and destruction that they can cause. Dean was a thing of beauty but caused no drama as far as the U.S is concerned (e.g. it had little chance of impacting the US). A storm approaching the U.S. though is a different story and I surmise that the poster would not have an impetus to open this thread had Dean hit the U.S. That is why Dean didn't do it for most people here.

I discern that in some minds, the NHC's barebones "TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED..." TWO's are akin to declarations from some metaphoric "Storm Nazi".

No storms for YOU!
No problem for me! :D 8-)

It's nice right now but in about a week(certainly by Labor Day) I want something else good to track. It's hurricane season, there are plenty of months with no activity.

Actually I'd rather see this... (NOT REAL!)

TWOAT
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL
530 PM EDT FRI AUG 24 2007

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS CURRENTLY ISSUING ADVISORIES ON CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE FELIX MOVING NORTH ABOUT 350 MILES EAST OF BERMUDA, CATEGORY 2 HURRICANE GABRIELLE 450MILES WSW OF THE AZORES ISLANDS, AND NEWLY FORMED TROPICAL DEPRESSION EIGHT MAKING LANDFALL IN PENSACOLA, BRINGING HEAVY TROPICAL SHOWERS TO THE SOUTHEAST.

A TROPICAL DISTURBANCE HAS MOVED INLAND OVER CENTRAL FLORIDA AND DEVELOPMENT IS NO LONGER EXPECTED FROM THIS SYSTEM. HOWEVER, HEAVY RAIN AND GUSTY WINDS ARE STILL POSSIBLE FOR PARTS OF THE TAMPA BAY AREA.

AN EXTRATROPICAL CYCLONE OFF THE COAST OF NORTH CAROLINA COULD BECOME MORE TROPICAL IN NATURE AS IT MOVES FURTHER OFFSHORE. A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE COULD FORM WITH ONLY A SLIGHT INCREASE IN CONVECTION.

ELSEWHERE, TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS.

I think it's wishful thinking if anyone things that

"not expected within 48 hours" message is going to last....It's going to get real busy soon..... It's not 2005, but it's not 2006 either..........
