A very good voting so far with all the poll options getting votes.A reminder that this poll will close in a automatic way,at the date and time it says at the top,so those who still haved not voted dont leave it to the last minute because if you try to vote on August 31rst at 7:53 AM EDT,it will be late as the poll will be closed.

Well, since the majority was way off on when the first hurricane would form, I'll stay away from that crowd and say that we will have only one named storm for September.

Didn't buy into the supposed ramp-up in August and am still not buying into the supposed ramp-up for September. Face-it folks, it's just not happening.

2 tropical storms and 1 hurricane. 3 total. I believe this season is going to be less active in power on the ACE then 2006, while Dean helped it a little.

I agree with you and voted 3 as well. I predict this will be a slower year than what NOAA predicted and Dean should end up the highlight of 2007. I thought the Easterly shear in the mid levels was not supposed to be strong in the Eastern Atlantic which would allow more waves to get those ripe conditions to form quite a few canes??? That is what NOAA predicted going into August and September. Dean was a lucky one and slipped through at the right time. I think that is what we will be seeing for the rest of the season. The lucky ones that make it through with very few able to form.

If a system is a TD on August 31 but doesn't get named before September, does it count as August or September?

Nope, the question of poll is (How many named storms will form in September) :) We may have three TDS,but if any is named before August 31rst at 7:52 AM EDT,none will count. :)

I'm going for 1 for September. Was more bullish earlier, but it doesn't looks good as whatever seems to get going either get destroyed by shear, dry air/sal etc....There have been some really healthy waves coming off of Africa that looked certain for development...much healthier than during times when waves like these would develop. If THESE waves can't get going, then I'm doubting any can....

good morning, luis....several earlier posts suggested that our recent seasons 04-07 have analogs in the 1932-1935 record....for the record 1935 included 3 august storms(incl, of course, the genesis of the labor day storm), 1 september storm(a cat 3, btw), 2 october storms(cat 1) and 1 november storm(cat1).....lets see if the analog holds......i believe it will........my vote is 1 sept storm(likely in the second half of the month)......rich

To clarify, when it hits 7:53 AM EDT on friday, the poll closes in a automatic way.But it will be at midnight EDT,when it counts. If a TD forms into a named storm before midnight EDT on August 31rst it wont count.
