Are you nervous/having withdrawls as season continues quiet?

I suppose this will be an average season.
Quite frankly I do enjoy hurricanes. I actually enjoy being in one. Its exhillerating to hear,feel,smell,and see one of mother natures wonders. I track a storm from Africa, see it on satellite images and radar, it has a name, we wonder what it is going to do, and then it is real, all your senses come alive. Unfortunately damage is done, people are hurt or perish. But this is life, my feelings about storms do not impact a storms path or strength, or who gets hurt and who doesn't.

I am enjoying having a quiet season so far but it only takes one hurricane to make the season bad for you if it hits where you live.

Mixed feelings. Hate to see any damage or suffering, but enjoy the excitement of a storm.


Funny feeling Dean will be the one and only long track Cape Verde storm of the season, and everything else develops much closer to US. Good in that they won't have much time to strengthen (although Katrina formed fairly close and ramped up pretty quick), bad because few fish storms when they form close to land.

Megawithdrawel... Although Dean was fun and entertaining.. I guess starting to track in 2004 and then 2005 being my second year I was used to things being busy.. But at least it's been better than 2006 was (for me anyway)..Yes I love big storms,yes I hope they form,but no one try bash me,my wishings of certain happenings will not create a giant hurricane in your path..Oh well,Still a month or 2 to go

P.P.S. TWC isn't wasting any time - the other day they began advertising their very winter-looking program, "Epic Conditions", so, perhaps they also feel the season will not be 2005 in length...

While I think it's too early to call it a quiet season, I will say that if we don't have another storm by September 10th and if the conditions in the Atlantic look like they do now by September 10th, then I will jump on the "season is either over or it will be really really slow" bandwagon. Now if by September 10th their hasnt been another storm, but conditions are really looking juicy out there there and we have a couple of invests going, then all bets are off, but right now, no real opinion until September 10th. That date will tell us where this season is heading....

and while it's true that 1 strong hurricane makes it active from a damage point of view, I don't think anyone is talking about that they when they are referring to a slow season. Remember, it's all about the numbers, even the NHC agree with that, but for those affected by a major hurricane, yes, 1 hurricane will make it about as active as it can get.

Our mets here in south florida aren't saying the season is over, they said on this morning's news, that we're just entering the highest 4 week peek of hurricane season, where any swirl out there can develop, so enjoy the quiet, or hope for a fish storm-lol

well, being that's only a little over a week away, thiat's a resonable percentage. It isn't a bad percentage actually for only being a week out.

Funny how we look at percentages sometimes... I surely wouldn't mind getting "only" a 40% increase in my annual income!!!

Quite is good for me too... that being said, mother nature dictates what happens in the tropics.. two of the past three years have been unbelieveable for the serious hurricane trackers like myself and many others who post on Storm2k... hey, I lost everything I owned twice to storms but I still enjoy the "thrill of the track".... big difference now, I just don't want that track anywhere near me.... like that makes a difference... they do what they want, when they want...

At least the past two years has allowed me to now be fully prepared for a storm should one impact the MS coast... I am perhaps as ready as I was for Katrina, and I was ready as one could be.... just 10 more feet higher, with a much stronger house... so if it remains quite, that will be great.. I'll just enjoy all the posters whining about the slow season... and if it cranks up, I just hope where ever they go, people are prepared and get the heck out of the way....

Cycloneye, are you koo-koo? Active hurricane seasons are what leads to withdrawl problems, not the other way around. I like quiet, I like dull. At this point, I think that Dean has made for a plenty memorable season even if there isn't one more storm. But, I am still wary and prepared.

I'm enjoying a 3-day weekend - in AUGUST! Slept 11 hours last night, about 3 night's worth during Dean. All rested up and ready for Felix.

I agree with wxman57 thats things will start picking up in a hurry soon.. This year reminds me of 2001 and we didn't get Felix until September 7th that year and ended up with 15 Named storms.
