Bonnie, this is another one that always brings a tear to my eye when I see it...

It reminds me of my mom and a baby sister named Lisa Ann that only lived for two days after she was born in 1969 :(

Do you believe?

#22 Postby FreakyWxChick » Tue Jun 24, 2003 1:53 pm

Petal Pusher,

Thank you for sharing your story about your mother. I can say after many years of holding patient's hands as they were dying that I do believe. I can remember one man in particular. He was only in his late 50's. He had diabetes and had come to the hospital to have two toes amputated. After his amputation he had some minor cardiac problems surface. These were minor and we all expected him to go home any day. He was a patient of mine for well over two weeks and I developed a friendship with him immediately. He told me about his family, and how he and his daughter hadn't spoken much for years although they lived in the same town. He told me he and his brother had fought 20 years ago and hadn't spoken since.

We expected him to go home on a Friday. One Wednesday morning when I was helping him bathe, he told me that angels were around his bed preparing him for his transition. I smiled and told him he was going home on Friday. He held my hand for a minute and said that he was going home that night. When my shift ended that day I walked by his room on my way to go downstairs and home. Something made me stop by his room. I went in and gave him a hug and told him I loved him.

That night he called his daughter and told her he loved her. He called his brother and apologized for all the years of silence and told him he loved him. He called all of his old friends and sent his love. At 3 am he got up out of his bed and collasped. He had a massive coronary and died instantly. I was already a believer before this, but if I ever had any doubts, this man sealed it for me.

I right clicked on the picture to find the origin.

Does it really matter who's site this is from. It's been my finding that all sites, worldly, religious, wacko, etc fall into the category of posting things that turn out to be false at time or another.

However, when an explanation is not found then it falls back on to our "fears of the unknown" for lack of a better terminology. Like everything else, some believe, some don't.

I for one would say this is possible, whether it is or not who knows. I would disagree with the one item mentioned--Angels can keep up with the fastest car, without breaking a sweat.

Here's something about my mom I rarely tell anyone..

Over a year before her death, she told my grandmother (Liz) that if something happened to her....please take care of me and Becky; not to allow us to go to her mom/ family in Tennessee. Keep in mind at this time (fall 1976), my mother was a perfectly healthy 40 year old. Granny says mom's words...and her insistence that us not be allowed to go to her mom (who she knew didn't have much affection for any of her grandchildren) has haunted her for 26 years :(

In addition, several times in 1977 mom told my sister and I that if something were to happen to her, for us to be there for each other; and not to worry about her...because she would always be our guardian angel. We thought she meant "someday in the distant future" -- we didn't realize we only had a few precious months remaining with her on earth with us :(

Do I believe my mother knew she was going to die? Yes...I do; so does Becky, dad, and Granny...and no one can convince us otherwise.

Perry,
You will always know that your precious Mother is and always will be your guardian angel. You and Becky are never alone, ever.

I believe in powers I do not understand and things I cannot see or hear. I believe as humans we are hopelessly limited in our understanding of all that is around us...yet a seed of imagination and a thirst for knowledge keeps us trying just the same. We are remarkably and forever resilient.

I believe there are questions with no answers but to trust. And I believe there are miracles happening around us every day that are obscured by our need to finish a report or do our jobs on time or cross something off our list.

I believe that hate and love both serve a noble purpose. Pain and happiness do the same. We need both to understand and appreciate the other. They help us "feel."

Anger serves no purpose, nor does resentment or bitterness. They instead eat us from the inside out and destroy the opportunity for fulfillment. The cure for these things is forgiveness...not forgetting...but total and absolute forgiveness.

I believe that our time here on earth is a gift we should not overlook or misuse or curse. It is the time we are given to nurture the wounds of others and bring smiles and security to those who can not seem to find it. Service to others in the form of a handshake or a hug is every bit as important as service to others in much bigger forums.

I believe we are each blessed with talents that go unnoticed because they are as natural as our heartbeat yet can be appreciated by others as we open those talents up in their world.

I believe that children's innocence is an insightful mirror that should cause us to live our days in surprise and wonder and learning...always, always.

I believe that there can be no sadness more deep than to find your life passing you by with regrets of things not tried...of risks not taken...of wounds not healed. A happy life...a life fulfilled...is one in which you can reflect and say you honestly tried to make a positive difference.

I believe that for all I know, I still know almost nothing...and that life beyond this one is worth living in service to others and a God with whom faith is our only connection. We do not need to prove or disprove his existence. We simply need a personal connection...with or without the understanding of others.

And I believe...that this forum is blessed with opportunities for all these wondrous things.

And on life's journey there is no better way to share it than to do so in the company of people you enjoy and trust and care about.

I believe some of those people are right here at Storm2k.

I had seen this picture before some time back myself as well, and the information that I read on it was indeed judged "authentic" ...

I have always have had a fascination with the unknown, and mysteries of the unexplained ... so I do occasionally come across pictures such as this one ...

I tend to believe that this is either an accidental double exposure or just a quirk. A Photoshop altered image is pretty easy for anyone with experience to pick out under detailed examination. If the story is true that I'm sure the negative was looked at. Hard to alter a negative with Photoshiop LOL.

Now as far as Angels. There is no doubt in my militry mind that they are very real! Those who have felt the presence have no doubt either! :-)

Thanks for the kind words, but I am just me. I believe those things because I have come to realize they are true by just paying attention to life.

My gift of words can get cluttered and busy sometimes...but they are as much an extension of who I am as my outreached hand to someone in trouble.

If I can help one person today...then I have had a very very very VERY good day today...no matter what else has happened on my cruise through it.

My wife would surely remind you that there are some imperfections "neath those words."

...and I could not dispute her.
