Hottest summer ever here

#1 Postby bob rulz » Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:11 am

...HOTTEST SUMMER ON RECORD IN SALT LAKE CITY...

FOR THE MONTHS OF JUNE...JULY...AND AUGUST...CLIMATOLOGICAL SUMMER...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE AT THE SALT LAKE CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WAS 79.3 DEGREES. THIS MAKES THE SUMMER OF 2007 THE HOTTEST ON RECORD. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 78.6 DEGREES SET IN 1994. THIS SUMMER INCLUDED 17 DAYS WITH TEMPERATURES 100 DEGREES OR HIGHER... WHICH RANKS 2ND ALL-TIME...AND 47 DAYS OF 95 DEGREES OR HIGHER... WHICH RANKS 3RD ALL-TIME.

THE HOTTEST SUMMERS ON RECORD NOW STAND AS FOLLOWS:
2007: 79.3 DEGREES
1994: 78.6 DEGREES
2003: 78.2 DEGREES
1988: 77.7 DEGREES
2006: 77.6 DEGREES
1961: 77.5 DEGREES
2000: 77.3 DEGREES
1996: 77.2 DEGREES

Did anywhere else have the hottest summer on record? All I know is that this was pretty much a no-brainer with how hot it's been. In addition, July was the hottest month on record (84.0 degrees) and August was the second-hottest on record (80.7 degrees was just below the record 80.8 degrees), and we just set the record for the warmest September night on record (with a chance for the warmest September day today). Luckily a cold front is expected after that.

Here too. Many parts of the West I assume. We had a snowstorm on June 7, but since then it's been much hotter than average. It was the hottest summer on record.

Other records set (besides all the daily ones) were that July was the hottest month on record and that August 2 was the warmest August night on record (63F!).

Our July was also the hottest month on record, and we also set records for the warmest August night (78F) and September night (75F) on record. July also set the record for the highest average minimum temperature, August tied the monthly record for that month for minimum temperatures, and August was also the 2nd-warmest on record.

Its been wretched here too.... blazing hot. We had several days with highs over 100° and our "warmest" average high is 87° in the month of July... it was very much above normal and very dry... it is so parched here, we are 15.00 inches BELOW average for the year on rainfall. All but one day in August was below 90°- the rest was 90°+ and most of those were mid to upper 90s. We only received .20 of rain in the entire month of August. Its bad here. September proving to be the same so far... been in the 90s most everyday and not ONE drop of rain!
