My first funnel cloud!!

#1 Postby richtrav » Mon Sep 03, 2007 9:44 pm

Having lived in Texas for 40 years now, this is the first time I've seen a real live funnel cloud. In deep South Texas, of all places, during a simple tropical summer shower

Very impressive. I would have been a bit nervous.

It looked like there may have been some brief contact down to the ground or very near the ground at one point. Even though it was quite small it was a beautiful site, and never when I would have expected it (it was just a small shower, not even any lightning that I saw)

Great photos!
Im jealous, I keep my eyes to the sky hoping to spot a funnel one day.
I have seen a few water spouts, but none over land.

Nice photos there, that funnel got quite a way down from the cloud base as well it seems, impressive!

I've only seen one and it was a real live tornado near Claremore, OK. Got way too close for my comfort.... 8-)

Those are phenomenal pictures, though. Funnel shots are even better than funnel cakes.
