Now I can add "USA" to the list of things people exclude Florida from.

Here are some other things Florida is excluded from: "East Coast", "Gulf Coast", "Southeast", and now the "USA".

It is an Area Forecast Discussion.

The WFO is not concerned about things outside its area of responsibility, which it refers to as "our area".

I have read through several pages of this thread since I was away much of the afternoon and all I can say to some of you is:

TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND CALM DOWN!!!!!

This is an Invest, not even a Tropical Depression and people are talking evacuation, Governors not doing a good job, Cat 3-4., went to work and came home to this!...............

If this system posed ANY imminent danger, the NHC would tell us so.
Don't y'all think that there should be a name first before people start to hyperventilate??

Ok, thanks; I had to get that off my chest.

I wasn't annoyed, I was emphasizing the fact that area forecast discussions only apply to the forecast area, hence "area" forecast discussion.

Believe it or not, areas of eastern Va, and eastern NC havent 100% recovered from isabel...so something like a few models suggest would be ugly in those areas

TWD 805:

SPECIAL FEATURES

AN AREA OF LOW PRES...ANALYZED 1009 MB...IS CENTERED NEAR
29N74W. VISIBLE SATELLITE IMAGES SHOW THAT THE CLOUD PATTERN
ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW IS STRETCHED. A WELL DEFINED TROUGH
HANGS SW FROM THE LOW TO THE STRAITS OF FLORIDA TO 25N80W. THIS
OVERALL STRUCTURE APPEARS NON-TROPICAL IN NATURE HOWEVER...THE
CIRCULATION HAS BECOME BETTER DEFINED AND THIS SYSTEM HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL CYCLONE OVER THE
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS AS IT MOVES SLOWLY NE. SCATTERED MODERATE
CONVECTION IS MOSTLY E OF THE TROUGH AXIS FROM 26N-30N BETWEEN
70W-75W.

Isn't it interesting, on the last few IR frames, how the image went from looking like a cold front to that of a tropical system? Does that mean anything, or was it just a random occurrence?

This area is looking very interesting, especially that new blowup of convection. D-MAX here we come... I think TD 7 is coming soon also.

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/flt/t3/loop-avn.html

Here is the AVN loop where you can see it better. First a line of storms, then some very cold tops appear near the center and the line dies out.
