Looks like we have a system here folks. Stepping off Africa with weak convection but good form.

Meso or Mod please change title of thread to wave in East Atlantic. I almost didn't spot this thread and nearly started a new one. Looks good as it in the East Atlantic now.

Steve Lyons talked about this wave saying that "We are going to have to watch this wave in the comming days as it has a well defined circulation".

From my thoroughly unprofessional experience, it seems that systems that actually gain convection as they leave Africa tend to be likely to development, and I would give this one good odds, given that it is September 5/6, and that their is little SAL, high moisture, and low shear.

A bit off topic, but I've never entirely understood why tropical waves often lose most of their convection upon moving off Africa. When a hurricane that has moved over land moves back from land to water, its convection refires, but for a tropical wave, it appears the opposite.

Looks solid, with developing convection to the west of the center.
