Will something develop out of Felix's left over convection?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

If it moves back over water, I wouldn't rule such out...it would still be named Felix if it redeveloped in the Gulf or Caribbean.

Are you sure? I'm thinking that if it was not the same SOC, then it would be named something different.

As the previous poster stated the answer is no unless the circulation somehow manges to make it back over water.

I'm thinking this can develop a new low in the convection.
i don't think the old center will make it back to the carribean.

IR2 loop shows some spin in the convection over southern Mexico and western Guatemala, but it appears to be moving to the west.

Seems to me that parts of the remnants of "Felix" are forming a new system on the gulf of Tehuantepec. A new pacific system in the way? But it has to get a new name if it will develop.

SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY...ASSOCIATED WITH THE REMNANTS OF
FELIX...IS LOCATED ACROSS THE GULF OF TEHUANTEPEC AND EXTENDS
SOUTHWARD FOR A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES. NO SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT
IS EXPECTED AS THE ACTIVITY DRIFTS WESTWARD.

Where'd you get that from Chacor? did the tropical weather outlook come out early or did you get that from something else?

That's the EPAC TWO. It comes out at a different time than the ATL. No development in the ATL from this.

If it redevelops in the EPAC, it gets the next name on the list. (But if it redevelops in the Atlantic, it stays Felix.)

Looks like Felix may reform in the BOC

#14 Postby lrak » Thu Sep 06, 2007 2:38 pm

I can see the low spinning very clearly on the visible loop.

http://www.ghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/goeseastconus.html

It looks to be drifting NW?

Is there any chance of this at all reforming there?

no disrespect but the title of this thread is very misleading. The remnant low from Felix is moving due west, not north west. This has very little if any chance of redeveloping.

Yeah and the original circulation is gone so even if it did develop it would not be Felix.

Don't see anything coming from this at all.

It's interesting to note that that the track for Felix from ECMWF had called for a brief journey into the extreme southern BOC before moving inland along the east coast of Mexico Friday. If the current swirl near Villahermosa is what is left of Felix, it could briefly move into the BOC. Reform? Probably doesn't have enough time...

One thing is clear, the original LLC that was classified as "Félix" is gone. Therefore, even if it develops in the Atlantic, the rule say it has to be given a new name because there will be a new LLC.

Remember that during Iván II the whole battle was about if it was the original LLC circulation that had survived and not a new LLC.

Please note this thread was merged with the BOC/Felix thread.
