that latest blow up looks like it is almost directly over the llc.

Mark was saying on his site that there is 2 lows fighting againts each other. and till one win out they will not call it. This is the first I had read of this. any one know what Mark is talking about?

If you were watching recon earlier, the patterns they were flying and the obs had me thinking there were two centers -- there were south winds north of northeast winds. I could be wrong but it had me wondering.

i was under teh impression that the low to the west of our new gabby was the upper level low. i don't think they're really fighting each other. the ull is getting out of the way.

There was another clue on the 00Z model data:

DISTURBANCE INVEST (AL072007) 20070908 0000 UTC

It said "Disturbance Invest" but AL07 for the 7th named storm of 2007.

RE: fighting lows

The upper low west of now Gabby was/is competing for and inhibiting development through shear and some in the way of siphoning off energy. Looks like the low level center of Gabby will win out with time and the upper low will move on out of the picture.
