and finally folks some people are coming aboard with me on this thing. As I said yesterday we really need to watch this one......

no reason why it shouldn't move WNW into the Bahamas...South Florida may need to really watch this thing...its been my thinking for the past couple of days given the time of year and lattitude of the system.

I look for this to be an invest if it continues like it is today. I see either a LLC or a MLC developing on the VIS shot this morning. Shear is near to nothing out there right now and there is an anti-cyclone developing over the top.

From The NHC Atlantic Weather Discussion:

AN ATLANTIC OCEAN TROPICAL WAVE IS ALONG 56W SOUTH OF 21N
MOVING WEST 10-15 KT. THIS WAVE CONTINUES TO SHOW UP WELL IN
SATELLITE IMAGERY WITH A BROAD INVERTED V PATTERN NOTED. A 1011
MB LOW WAS ADDED TO THE AXIS NEAR 14N BASED ON THE APPEARANCE IN
SHORTWAVE IR IMAGERY IN ADDITION TO THE OBSERVATIONS FROM THE
METEO FRANCE BUOY 41101. SCATTERED MODERATE CONVECTION IS OVER
THE N PORTION OF THE AXIS FROM 14N-20N BETWEEN 54W-61W. THIS
ACTIVITY IS EXPECTED TO AFFECT THE NRN LESSER ANTILLES/LEEWARD
ISLANDS LATER TODAY AND MON.

Is an inverted V pattern good for development? What does that mean?

Definition of an Inverted trough...

An inverted trough bulges to the north. At first it may look like a ridge, but on further inspection it is a trough. Both a trough and an inverted trough have a cyclonic (counterclockwise) flow pattern. A trough will tend to have more westerly winds associated with it while an inverted trough will tend to have more easterly winds associated with it. If an inverted trough is actually a ridge then the winds will be flowing with the height contours in the opposite direction (anti-cyclonic direction). The direction of windflow through the feature is how a ridge is discerned from an inverted trough.

Tropical waves will show up as inverted troughs because they are generally south of mid-latitude high pressure and have an easterly wind associated with them.

Well, this one has me a little nervous with a trof generally coming into the central plains. This should allow for a general weakness in the overall ridge. Now, with the GFS showing a bumb coming towards FL with this, I feel that it could get its act together very quickly.

Uggh...I'm getting sick and tired of it being so dry
hardly a drop of rain since early august.

I'm also getting sick and tired of all
these disturbances missing me.
(I just want tropical storms, NOT hurricanes).

I hope this becomes a tropical storm and
crosses the FL peninsula just to give us
the rain we need.
And then the cold front pushes it northeastward
towards the carolinas as a heavy rain event...that
would be AWESOME! Both florida and the
carolinas would get their much needed rain.
I mean seriously, we have had no rainy season
this year.
