To be arrested for this... wow, thats strange. I could understand being angry over this. I Whats worse is that the camera showed it was an accident and the judge still would not release? Strange.

I personally would have liked the extra salt/pepper.

if they paid attention to much more serious crime in that police department, it would be for the better of the community.
To get arrested and to spend a night in jail for this, has to be the most insane thing ever. It certainly didn't warrant a night in jail and I hope that the person arrested sues that police department, and gets rewarded.

she willingly served food that was not of the highest quality?

She made a mistake, deliberately did not correct it. Her and her manager should have spent the night in the joint for that. Their mistake and their total lack of willingness to correct it got someone sick

:uarrow: At least one person actually read the article. I think most people in this thread have the wrong idea of what happened.

I am surprised that the manager was not arrested instead of the worker. The article states that the manager was helping her and continued to help her. The manager is the one who should have been arrested.

Sorry.. Just because someone let food get served because too much Salt and Pepper was in it is not reason to jail anyone. Complain to the Company and let them discipline the workers thats fine but tossing people in jail for salty food is a bit much. :D

If you suffer from high blood pressure I could see where it could be serious if there was that much too salt in there.

so Chad,

you are OK with serving food that one knows is defective?

it wasn't like the burgers were a little salty according to the article, they were much saltier than they should have been and the mistake was dileberately not corrected

From another article on it :
Bull, 20, said she accidentally spilled salt on hamburger meat and told her supervisor and a co-worker, who "tried to thump the salt off".

From that it seems she did the only thing she could do and told her supervisor. The supervisor is in control of what happens, unless you want to try argue with a superior and lose your job.

Pathetic thing to be jailed for.A free burger instead,sure.. Jail... Please.

No im not ok with that.. In fact I do believe she should of been fired.. THAT is how you handle an employee not doing what they are suppose to.. Or not up holding the store's standards. Fire her butt on the spot.. But arresting said employee? thats just ignorant. Got my car washed last weekend and the vacuming job they did was lousy and the one who did it had to know it was lousy when they were done.. was no not seeing everything they missed.. I didn't call the cops though :-)

When I first read this I thought, "You have got to be kidding?" Then on second thought I thought of what could happen if you have high blood pressure, particularly if you are unaware of having it. Below is what can happen to those that do if too much salt is eaten-

Too much salt causes 'vasoconstriction' of the blood vessels, which means they shrink in size or constrict because the salt has dehydrated the cells, forcing water out of them and making them narrower.

It's this shrinking or tightening of the blood vessels that pose health risks. When blood vessels become narrower, the heart has to work harder to force the blood around the body and this increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart attacks and strokes. If you already have high blood pressure or coronary heart disease (when the arteries become narrowed because fatty deposits have formed on the inside wall of the blood vessels), then you are adding to your risk of having a stroke or heart attack by eating excessive salt.

http://www.femhealth.com/DangersofSalt.html

I have a friend that suffered from high blood pressure and didn't know it. One night she called me saying she felt so sick. I took her to the emergency room. If I hadn't she would have died. She had had a couple of margarita's salt rimmed that may have brought it to a head. Yes - she probably had ignored some other signs previously, but she consmued that extra salt of her own free will. If she had gone to McDonald's and had that burger it might have killed her, depending on how much was in it.

Yes- to arrest them may have been too severe, but what if the officer had died? And I do also believe that the manager is just as guilty.
