http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.ph ... 1&loop=yes

both of those show the storm center south of galveston. If you cant see that then I dunno what to tell you.

Hey Rock, I'm also a Pearland resident. How bad do you think we'll get hit based on the current info?

Mods, I'm sorry to get OT here, so if y'all want to delete this, feel free to. I just want to tell those members getting mad at some of the poster's opinions are acting a little harsh, IMO. I'm sure people know that this is not a PROFESSIONAL thread, and should not be used as such. For official info, see the NWS and NHC. For opinions of other people, see S2K.

Its south of it now but not trending to be there later on...Doesn't really matter its already directly effecting galveston it just looks like land fall maybe east of there..

I think two things are occuring that cause an illusion that the storm is moving more E than actuality...
1) Dry air entrainment from the west makes the Eastward motion appear more pronounced
2) The blob of less edit out(convection) edit in (precipitation) in the center has moved from the center of circulation to the NE side of the "eyewall"

IMO....

Well for what its worth, the movement between the last 2 recon fixes which were only 30 mins apart was...2841/9450 to 2844/9450 or about 3 miles to the north. Radar shows lots of wobbles but In my opinion it would be pretty hard pressed to make landfall all the way over by Beaumont.

Grlevel3 puts the center about 36 miles south on the 184 radial from the east tip of Galveston Island as of 1850cdt.

Wow the sun is shining from the W and we have a steady rain. A sign that N Galveston County will have little more weather than what we had. An amazing sight,

Folks SW LA is clearly within the NHC Cone, and the last NHC track jumped east quite a bit. Its not out of the equation at all.

well said.
about the wobbles. imo the eye is trying to form but is being whipped around causing the illusion it is moving east. I think we all just need to trust the experts and not put wild ideas out there that it will hit la or anywhere else besides galveston for that matter. we need to keep the people informed that need to be informed. houston floods with just a quarter inch of rain lately so this is gearing up to get real nasty. wish us all luck.

Remember to look at the cone, which far SW LA is in.

NHC has it going east of galveston...its certainly is not out of the realm of possibility to hit beaumont.

Yea, it looks like much of Houston may escape with only a drop or two of rain.
