Summary of my trip. WARNING: Boring. ;)

#1 Postby David » Fri Jun 27, 2003 7:07 pm

I wrote alot of stuff down traveling, much useless, but hey...

Day 1: Sunday

Left House: 8:55AM CDT

Merged onto Interstate-70 from Interstate-470 at 9:02AM CDT.

Number of constuction zones on I-70 from Topeka, Kansas to Limon, Colorado: 5

Hit a rain shower in Wabaunsee County at 9:22AM CDT, it ended at 9:31. Later at 9:37AM, a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING was issued for NE Wabaunsee, SE Potawatomee counties. 1 inch hail was reported.

Entered Wabaunsee County at: NA, Riley County: 9:33AM CDT, Dickinson County: 10:00AM CDT, Saline County: 10:21AM CDT.

Hit a rest stop at 10:45AM CDT, back on I-70 at 10:52AM CDT. The ironic thing here was the cashier was talking to a "regular" I guess, and she was talking about how she was fixing her daughter's room. Oh, by the way, her daughter's name was Isabel. ;)

Lincoln Co: 11:00AM CDT, Ellis Co: 11:06AM CDT, Russel Co: 11:57AM CDT, Trego Co: 12:44PM CDT, Gove Co: 1:12PM CDT, Logan Co: 1:54PM CDT, Thomas Co: 1:54PM CDT.

Entered Mountain Daylight Time at 2:29PM CDT/1:29PM MDT

Entered Sherman County at 1:29PM MDT.

Stopped in Goodland, KS for the night.

Day 2: Monday

Left Goodland, KS: 7:00AM MDT

Horrid smell of cow manure. YUCK!

Got back on I-70, and had dense fog. I could estimate a visibility infront of us of about 100M. (Straightaway of a track)

Entered the State of Colorado at 7:22AM MDT.

At 7:28AM MDT, I saw a quote on a building that said... "Happiness is a crock of beans." :?

Lincoln Co Colorado: 8:14AM MDT, Elbert Co: 8:52AM MDT, El Paso Co: 9:17AM MDT.

Entered Highway 24 from I-70 at 8:45AM MDT.

Highway 24 Construction Zones: 4

A bag of chips not opened inflated and finally popped under pressure at 8,465FT above sea level.

Entered Cripple Creek, Colorado at 11:38AM MDT, 9,494 FT above sea level.

Day 4 Overall, 3rd Day Traveling: Wednesday

Left Cripple Creek Early, 11:00AM MDT.

Arrived at Manitou Springs, Colorado at 2:00PM.

Got a shower in Manitou Springs later that night.

Day 5 Overall, 4th Day Traveling: Thursday

Left Manitou Springs: 8:45AM MDT

Highway 24 Construction Zones Coming Back: 2

Interstate-70 Construction Zones Coming Back: 6

Elbert Co: 12:12PM MDT, Lincoln Co: 12:37PM MDT, Kit Carson Co: 1:03PM MDT.

Had a radio station called "KCS 102, "The Moose". :?

Had a weird street too... "Weed Soap Drive". :?

Entered the State of Kansas: 1:57PM MDT

Entered Sherman County at 1:57PM MDT.

Arrived at Goodland, Kansas at 2:15PM MDT

Day 6 overall, Day 5 Traveling: Friday

Left Goodland: 8:05AM MDT

Thomas Co: 8:38AM MDT, Logan Co: 10:03AM CDT, Gove Co: 10:03AM CDT.

Entered Central Daylight Time at 8:38AM MDT/9:38AM CDT

Logan County is only 40 seconds across on I-70.

Trego Co: 10:34AM CDT, Ellis Co: 11:02AM CDT, Russel Co: 11:39AM CDT, Lincoln Co: 12:24PM CDT, Saline Co: 12:30PM CDT, Dickinson Co: 1:32PM CDT, Geary Co: NA, Riley Co: 2:14PM CDT, Wabaunsee Co: 2:19PM CDT, Shawnee Co: NA

Arrived home at 3:00PM CDT.

NOTE: Topeka got 2 severe thunderstorm watches while I was gone. Goodland got a severe thunderstorm watch the day I left. TOPEKA IS NOT THE BUBBLE, I AM! :( But, I did get one tonight. God said "Welcome back." :D

I got 402 emails, I guessed 407. Not bad. 60 emails alone about watches/warnings/advisories for Barton Co, KS, Concordia, KS, Manhattan, KS, Topeka, KS, and Kansas City, KS.

By the way, I did send those postcards to my dad and Isabella. Wonder what the reaction will be. :o ;)

Have a good day everyone! :D

Interesting statistics and probably a great way to pass the time. The chip trivia was interesting and hilarious! ;)

Welcome back David! ;D

You're like me, David. The times you enter certain areas, such as counties, road interchanges. This sort of information may come in handy. :)
