Some of the strongest radar returns I've seen so far are sitting about 5 miles south of High Island right now . . .

oh my, now I am really nervous....I don't like hearing there is a chance for tornadoes, especially at night....never been through anything like this before, ( except for Rita, but we evacuated for that ) I am from Ohio originally and well, we had tornado warnings up there ( never been through one ) but always hada basement for protection, there are no basements here....don't think I will get much sleep tonight.....

Wouldn't you know it, just as the inner convection was alongshore, a newer intense band forms a hair to the east. Base Reflectivity, zoom this and it looks like a last hurrah before landfall. Next wobble north and it'll be on the coast IMHO (goes out to 12:46).

AE is triggering its hail icon to the biggest value I've seen so far . . . obviously, in this case, there isn't hail (I doubt the Houston sounding is going to be representative of the core of this TC), but it does indicate strong convection aloft . . . i.e. a 60+dbZ blob between 15 and 20 thousand feet.

It has 80 mph winds. Humberto is a hurricane, albleit a small one with hurricane winds extending up to 15 miles. This is reminds a lot like Jerry in 1989. Made landfall east of Houston.

NHC forecast puts the center 10 miles due west of Orange at 7am CDT tomorrow, so be expecting the worst somewhere between 3 and 5am CDT

They found slightly higher FL winds in the E quad last time, plus the NE quad is far too close to shore for them to pentrate without feeling the land.

A lot of people in E Texas around Beaumont are in for a big surprise in a few hours as now Hurricane Humberto will be trecking overhead around dawn. I think Humberto has caught many unprepared as it spun up so quickly. I'm impressed at how rapidly the hurricane organized this morning thru afternoon to evening. I hope everyone got out of their FEMA trailers and sought shelter. I have a bad feeling that some people might get killed tonight because of this rather unexpected hurricane......MGC

Radar shows the more intense storms getting ready to move into the PA area within a half hour or so with the worst storms appearing to be about 2 hours away. You can expect some very intense squalls for about the next 4-5 hours or so as the eye or what will be left of it passes very near to PA during this time.

That is comforting :) The only thing that really scares me are the possibilities of tornados....can't see that good at night, so it is the worst time for that kind of stuff to happen...glad I didn't stay behind when rita came through, I probably would have had a nervous breakdown LOL

Also, pressure heights are much down. This could be 987 or 986mb right now . . . but we'll have to wait for the VDM or a drop to know for sure.
