The models agree on a track to the northeast, followed by a turn to the east. Oddly enough, they then recurve it back toward the GOM, but it should have dissipated by then.

Hang in there it will be over soon. Do us a favor though please do not go outside to look around. You will have plenty of time to look around once it has passed over. I know how tempting it is to look out the windows but just try and stay centered in a room away from windows. Talk to us here as long as you can update us when possible.

What was the strongest wind in Rita 2005? Since it was weaking and this is strengthing it should not be that far apart.

the winds in Humberto won't even be close to what they were in Rita. Portions of SETX received 100-110MPH winds, worst case scenerio for this portion of Texas where Rita hit probably 60MPH sustained, and a MUCH smaller windfield, so any damage will be much less.

It's way far apart. This is not even remotely close to Rita's winds! There will be some damage from Humberto, but not even close to Rita's damage. Rita left this area devastated.

Good!! Your dog will be much safer in the garage. Now hunker down and ride it out. If all goes well you have about 2 to 3 hours left of this storm. The wind gusts are the worst but they do pass and will become much less frequent as the time passes. Remember also that when the eye passes all will be calm but then the next half of the storm is coming so do not venture out. Stay Safe!!

Jess I'm in PN also, this is not bad compared to Rita. We were not in PN for Rita but we were in Woodville and we had at least 100 mph winds there. So I am taking this a little better than I did Rita...

A lady in Bridge City is on the phone with KBMT. She said the winds are very high, rain is pouring, spiraling down and her mobile home is shaking badly.

Just a lot of rain here so far... winds not bad here, at least yet. My lights have flickered a few times, but still electricity.

I'm listening to callers on TV. A lady in Lumberton was asking if it was safe enough to drive to Beaumont (Lumberton a few miles north of Beaumont) to pick up her father because a tree fell on his house. :(

A lady in Vidor (just east of Beaumont) is on the phone now saying part of her porch was peeling off. She sounds scared.

For a really good radar loop go to http://setxhomepage.com/content/weather. The eye is very distinct and seems to be running northeast parallel to I10 and looks like it will run right through downtown Beaumont and mid County - right across ExxonMobil's refinery.
