Re: Hurricane HUMBERTO (GOM): Discussion & Images
I just heard a huge clunk.
Hopefully just a hanging potted plant dropping. I still have power (obviously or I wouldn' t be able to be here.) Better go find the candles and light one while I still can. My coffee's fixed (on auto) but not Made. Good idea THink I'll do that too.

It is amazing you guys still have power. I would put some gallon jugs of water in the freezer. If your power goes out they won't be able to get it back up till after the storm. Two gallons of ice will keep the fridge cold and give you some icewater to drink while the AC is out.

From NHC 5AM
So Louisiana is in for some flooding as this continues northeast.
A north-northeast to northeast
motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours or so.
Thereafter...the model guidance is in fairly good agreement that
the trough will continue eastward and remain far enough north to
keep Humberto or its remnants lingering around the east central
Gulf Coast in 36 to 48 hours. The official track forecast follows
this reasoning and is similar to the previous forecast. This
scenario could pose a serious rainfall threat across portions of
Louisiana...southeastern Arkansas and into central and northern
Mississippi.
So Louisiana is in for some flooding as this continues northeast.

I'm such a moron! Glad you said water! lol I jumped up and ran water in both bathtubs and drew a few extra gallons of water. We are rural and on well water so if the power goes out we lose water too! I have drinking water and keep a supply during the deason but needed bathing water. THANKS for saying water! lol
Oh, and made another pot of coffee for the thermos.

54,000 people without power and Entergy rep on KFDM said it could be Friday before power is restored again.

Re: Re:
Coleman might still sell what I consider to be some pretty good battery powered hurricane lamps. I bought several before Ivan and still use them today when my power goes out. I have two sizes; my smaller lamps use C batteries and my larger lamps use D batteries. The smaller lamps simply have a push button on and off feature while the larger lamps have a dimmer feature. I bought my lamps at a K-Mart back in 2004.Over my head wrote:Derek Ortt wrote:NEVER USE CANDLES IN A HURRICANE

Water's up over the sidewalk. News van just stopped in front of the house to take a pic of a huge limb hanging from an oak next to the street. Hope he didn't get me in the movie in my night clothes peeking out the door.
Another truck got halfway down the street and then backed up with something hung on his front bumper dragging.

Re: Hurricane HUMBERTO (GOM): Global & BAM MODELS
Checking some of the latest computer models this Thursday morning a few show Humberto making landfall in the TX/LA region; moving into LA; entering MS; then making what appears to be a turn to the S and possibly re-entering the GOM. Some take it as far to the E as the FL panhandle region. Which of the models is the most reliable considering these scenarios and is there a possibility that Humberto could make such a loop and re-enter the GOM and at what strength? A very weak TD?
