Doesn't look like it is struggling so much any more to me. Tighter circulation with convection now around the LLC and banding features on all sides.

Well, a matter of perspective, I guess. I'll grant you it looks better than it did this morning. But I'd still call it "struggling."

Semantics I guess but I see no danger of this disapating in the near term and some signs that stengthening might be occuring. To me that's not struggling unless all depressions are considered to be struggling.

Re: TD 8=Discussion of recon data
I agree it's struggling but it does look slightly better this afternoon. I would not be surprised if they find it's a TS, but I also would not be surprised if they find it's still a TD.
I am a bit surprised this flight actually left though. Very odd.

Convective burst over the center this evening so they will probably find 45 knot winds at the surface. It is a long flight for a storm that the NHC thought was no threat to the islands this morning.

They must see indication TD 8 has a good chance of making it to TS status.Otherwise it wouldn't make sense if this thing was dying

I forgot who said this, but someone said that this flight is really to collect new data to help advance the HWRF model, as well as check out TD8

I know. It seems there was a problem with the technical equipment. I'm getting used to this kind of problems this season.
