We have 2 Sam's Clubs here in Lakeland, one on the North side of town and the other is one the south side of town. South side is a little closer to us.Sometimes I buy meat at the Sam's Club, but the meat market I went to, none of the meat I bought was over 5.00 a package. I paid about 3.00 for a whole chicken , Publix wanted 5.74 for a whole chicken. Publix wanted 7.84 for a whole chicken that was already cut up into pieces.

http://online.wsj.com/mdc/public/page/m ... refresh=on

the dollar is in a FREE FALL down to it's lowest rate in history! 77.70 as of posting

this means food price rises have just begun and everything from food, to energy, and walmart "goods" are going up up and away, as most foreign investment in the united states is now boarding their plane's for departure. things are no wear as calm as they appear on the surface.

the price of milk will go up 20 % by christmas unless the fed raises rates. p.s most mortgages are attatched to the london interbank rate not the fed funds rate. the rate cut did not help mortgage owners, it just gave more crack to the liquidity junkies on wall street (and more time to get out of dollar investments) while the public was fed a line about re-inflation. peace

After milk being $2.49 a gallon for a while, it recently dropped to $1.99/gallon. We consume a LOT of milk around here, so that's a pretty big savings each month. It was never over $4 here, like some posted above. $3 something, but not over $4 and Kroger often ran specials 2 for $6 and then 2 for $5 - nice to see it so low again.

Government subsidies on ethanol have pushed the cost of corn up by making it scarce. The scarcity of corn, as acreage that would have grown either feed corn or human preferred corn is diverted to ethanol corn, increases demands on other grains, so it shouldn't be surprising if milk and other food prices rise.

Brazil uses a lot of ethanol, and it works for them. Lots of sun, lots of rain, warm. Sugar cane, makes lots of sugar, a lot easier to process into ethanol.

**Yes it was political and i deleted it. CM

I bought milk for $1.99 a gallon today also! My kids go through a gallon a day, so the price of milk matters to me!
