This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Spurs title = Texas hurricane

#1 Postby Portastorm » Sun Sep 16, 2007 8:18 am

Once again, my sports=weather connection has proven true. When this year's tropical season started I posted a note in USA Weather that said every year the San Antonio Spurs won the NBA title, a hurricane hits Texas.

1999 = Hurricane Bret
2003 = Hurricane Claudette
2005 = Hurricane Rita (yes, I know technically it was a Louisiana hit but was on border)
2007 = Hurricane Humberto

... not sure I want the Spurs to win it again next year! :wink:

Being at ground zero for both Rita and Humberto, I officially hope the Spurs stink it up next year. :grrr: Nothing personal to San Antonio but if the Spurs continue to stir up the tropics, they should get the hurricanes! :wink: No wonder I hate NBA basketball!!!

Go Lakers...

No offense, just don't want anymore Hurricanes for TX...Rita did produce the tidal surge that wiped out Holly Beach, LA. But TX/LA caught the rest of the storm. Trust me....8 months later we were able to move back in our home in Jefferson County, TX

Portastorm...I think a lot of people in Sabine Pass would disagree with you about Rita being a La. storm.

If SA wins and we have another hurricane I think we should change our
State Capitol to Breau Bridge. :lol:

I hear ya GT, I hear ya ... I think of Rita as a Texas storm, too, but technically the center (or eye) hit just east of the borderline.

Poor Spurs ... it's enough to make me a Rockets fan or something! :wink:
