It'll be close, but certainly possible. If it hits an intensity plateau at any point in the next 12 hours, then I'd doubt it. But if it can keep ramping up between now and then, 130kts is certainly possible.
And as of 0400 JST, Ishigakijima was reporting 48kts/968.7hPa. Still falling off quickly, and wouldn't be surprised if they were nearing typhoon strength winds in the next report.

Could this be China's Katrina or is the building built better then ours?

Saomai reportedly killed over 2,000 in the area of forecast landfall last year Matt and that was about the same intensity as it is at the moment. The forecast intensity at landfall for this is slightly lower but this area had lots of problems with landslides that time.

This will definitely be interesting for the Shanghai area if the current forecast track were to actually verify. Looks like at least the eastern side of the city would get hurricane force winds based on the forecast wind radii from JTWC as Wipha passes about 30-40 miles east of the area. I hope they're prepared. Will definitely be a test of just how well a mega metro area (as far as population being in the upper millions) fairs from major tropical cyclone impact.

Looking at latest radar the island with the airport ob is getting the northern eyewall with the eye about to pass over the island to their west. It's been incredible watching this thing move and intensify today. Hopefully people on those islands have moved into strong shelters!
