Well this is Sep 19th and we here on the east coast have been very lucky. The ridges that have saved the east coast from Ga up has been a good thing to not bring up any Bad Hurricanes. We did have a small TS Gabby that did give the North east of NC some much needed rain. Wished it had come down a little more for us to the south east coast.
But it looks like the ridges will win this year as far as any Hurricanes coming up the EC. I know it is Sep But I think the ridges will still be in place for the rest of Hurricanes season.
Now we do need to watch out for Fla and the north gulf coast.

Actually, due to where GA is located/shape of the coastline (protected by FL from many storms traveling N or NNE), it is my opinion that persistent, strong eastern U.S. ridging actually INCREASES the risk of a DIRECT landfall to GA as it often tends to impart or maintain more westerly component of motion than would otherwise be the case. If one were to look at old wx maps of storms that hit GA from the Atlantic, they would often find high pressure centered over or near the NE US on the day of the hit as well as a little prior to the hit. The key is that the ridging is not too far south like it was for Dean/Felix.

Interresting and pertinent analysis , that's good news for you, hope this trend will continue for you , but unhopefully that's seems a terrible year for the tropics with that strong ridge meaning higher chances for landfall in the Carib, but no more doubts the RIDGE is always so strong....only ingrid has approached the 17, 8N influenced by tutt and throughs.....so hope will see the first system crossing higher than 18N beginning at 20w beetwen 60w... if we see it lol... nothing for the moment we will see but that's a quasi certitude this year that the ridge is very very powerful
