So, this is a La Nina upper pattern? hmm...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

There always seems to be a two- or three-week dead stretch in the season as the multiple TUTTs troughs over the Atlantic collapse into fewer troughs, or none, as the main northern jet begins to sink down a little and squash the subtropical ridge axis farther south. Once the shake-up is done, we have our secondary spike.

At the beginning I ignored this thread. But as time goes on. I don't see anything that looks to interesting. After 2 Cat 5's I thought. Here we go. But shear took over. China got a landfall and the wpac is still kicking. Almost think it is like an El Nino. Don't know if this is how the rest of the season will be. But it is weird considering La Nina is here.

2005, the most active year on record, had several weeks-long dead stretches between the Big Ones in which there were little pukey fishstorms and so on. This season will be no different.

For all we know, the not-labeled system off Florida will be a cat-4 menacing New Orleans in three days.
