This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The two lows are confusing; Please advise

#1 Postby Senobia » Thu Sep 20, 2007 11:30 am

So the first issue was the Invest 93 on the east side of Florida. Now the 'other thing' on the west side of Florida has reared its head. I don't know what to call either of them anymore. Lows? Invests? How does anyone know which one anybody is talking about?

In layman's terms, could someone please answer the following? Thank you in advance.

1. Invest 93 (east of Florida)..is it going to stay/continue/go east and not enter the Gulf or is it still expected to cross FL and become the threat it was said to possibly be to Texas?

2. Could/will these 2 systems merge and if they can/do, what would that mean as far as intensification and projected path?

3. Presently, there are two systems projected to be some form of tropical trouble going to two different places on the west side of Florida, both occurring this weekend - is that right?

It's all 93L - what happened is yesterday it was heavily sheared and it split, with one chunk of energy going SW into the Gulf and another going NNW up the coast.

The low in the Gulf is increasingly dominant. That's the area to watch.

When it was east of Florida, it was a combination upper low/weak surface low, and, at this time, one or both (it's a fairly disorganized system at this time, in general) are just offshore southwest Florida, and, are forecast to move west or westnorthwest over the next couple of days, before reaching land...

See the NHC product at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MI ... 0847.shtml for more information...

Oops - sorry x-y-no - didn't mean to step on your toe (it ryhmes)...
