I don't envy the forecasters at the local NWS over the next few days because this is one complex forecast. We have good model agreement, but we still don't have all the necessary pieces of the puzzle. Yet. The system's proximity to the shoreline is probably one of the more difficult elements because we don't have the luxury of time.

The possibility of a significant TC is going down by the hour. I agree that the recon mission today is a waste of fuel and time as there is no TC in the GOM. If anything does form it will be a weak sheared system that will likely provide some much need rain on someone lawn. This has been so over hyped down here. Yesterday I was thinking a 50% chance of development today I'd say a 25% chance. Nothing here folks, move along......MGC

I vote to change Florida's motto from "The Sunshine State" to "Please, make it rain!"

I'd say there's about a 95% chance you're going to be wrong (but probably not by much).

Well there are about 5,000 other threads on the site where something might be going on that interests you, so... ;)

I don't know what people were expecting to see today. Any "good looks" will be tomorrow, if ever. I think about 30% of the board's population needs to get on either ADHD medicine, or for those who are on it, you need to start taking it.

WOW, what a tease 93L was.
So promising as it first started off the SE FL coast and was bring us the north easterly flow with bursts of rain and then............................. nothing............................

I will cast my vote with you on the motto change..
Perhaps a second choice would be The Brown Lawn State

What ever it becomes is really looking like a NO storm...all models have latched on to that idea now except Euro which I would bet will be next..

Are we seeing the development of an LLC about 60 miles west of Naples? Showing up on long range Key West RAD.

Steve,

Clearly this system hasn't lived up to the potential that was forecast and looks like it probably won't either. NOw I'll go take my pill  And when you've taken yours :D you might wanta check out the Caribb.

It's a little bit funny that a surface low is finally developing in the GOM and NOW people are giving up on it.

sevenleft,

There have been a variety of surface lows in and around the area. Need favorable consditions for it to actually develop. Still time for something minimal but a long way to go.

Hmmm, I'd have expected to see the automated HDOBs from the plane warming up at Keesler by now. I thought the scheduled arrival time was 12:30 pm EDT. I know it isn't a very long flight, but still...

Surface lows over central Florida don't really count.

If something happens, it's going to come from the one that is establish itself now.

That one has been there for awhile as well. Check back throughout the thread. Many claimed and perhaps right that it was there yesterday. YOu need more than just a surface low........

This isn't over yet, I didn't really expect anything to really get going till Friday anyway. A system in this setup will take longer, but once it gets going it could develop rapidly. Things will start popping down there late this afternoon or this evening IMO.
