This reminds me of Gabrielle. A lot of hype and then a big nothing. I will be very surprised if this is more than a weak TS. Next please.

I would never call people out but a few have been quiet since the EURO has moved a tad...Its a shame how some convince themselves of one thing and then POOF, they are gone.

Best thing is stop making BOLD calls when NOTHING is formed, regardless what models say.

and, my goodness, can't anyone just make the comment that "anything can happen?" It's just a comment and something that I have noticed in my fifty-somthing years.

hey, some people can't be on here 24 hours a day, we got other things to do like school, errens etc...

All I got to say is, this was a TOTAL waste thus far.

Calm down, you were absolutely right. Don't worry about what other people say. Regardless of whether the situation is the same or not, things in tropics change rapidly. Anyone who disputes that is wasting their time. They were just trying to explain the differences in the situation.

Right now, no there is not going to be anything like that happening. That doesn't mean things can't and won't change.

I live in Lumberton, Tx which is North of Beaumont. And was here for Rita and Humberto. And based on those storms anything can happen in my experience. Like they say it ain't over till the fat lady sings.

I would hate for another to hit here, but I sure would like to be prepared if it does. Did not get much prep time on the last two storms. So if I here the pro mets say that it is possible that this thing could come my way, whether it is a 20% or 80% chance I appreciate that they are looking at all the models and available data and not just one piece of the puzzle.

I appreciate all the info i get here. Ya'll all do a great job. Keep up the good work.

Thanks

first does anyone else agree that this should be a subtropical depression right NOW

now subtropical storms have their highest winds out from the center and usually most convection as well. also these kind of storms don't rapadily intensify like pure tropical systems can. but still 2 foot surge in s. carolina from howling winds. 10 inches of rain in N. fl and now the N gulf coast can get ready for more of the same, although probably a bit worse

I think after the recon they will make it a least a subtropical depression at 4pm, given the winds they are finding out there.

Perhaps. Right now, I see wind reports of about 32 mph with gusts to 36, so maybe this is a subtropical depression. In any case, the recon will say for sure.

Some development? Animate on a zoom and see some of the cloud tops cooling nearer to the center of the circulation. Not sure if the snowball is rolling downhill yet, but at least there is some consolidation of storms closer into the circulation.

Based on what others posted that recon is finding,
I think we will have a subtropical depression
at 5.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but what is the difference between tropical and subtropical.

It is amazing that the center is in the gulf because S.C. has been hit by some serious feeder bands today with more coming.

That's a characteristic of subtropical cyclones- the worst weather can
be 200 miles away from the center while here near the center in western
florida it is actually pretty calm outside...like we are in some giant eye...
of course it is breezy but certainly nothing as intense as what the carolinas
are getting.

Interestingly enough- South Carolina NE FL and GA have been
getting the tropical storm type weather from this over the
past few days. It's almost as if a tropical storm moved
right on top of you guys. I mean that describes the weather
conditions in those areas.
