Sean, as a general rule of thumb, you need two consecutive fronts that exit through the straits, to call the GOM season over. That may be 3 weeks away. That usually is an indicater that atmospheric conditions will not support the genesis of storms in that area, there just is not enough time between frontal passages for that to occur. That said, it does NOT mean a storm cannot get into the gulf and intensify. You need just look back and see the gulf impacts that have occured all the way through late Oct/ early Nov. The season is far from over if the gulf gets " shut down".

One good thing that came out of this is that it brought beneficial rains to areas that needed them, even in the Carolinas. The bad thing being of course the tornadoes that have been spawn from outer rain bands like Orlando last night. I'm not complaining, I'm making some fun plans for tomorrow. Also, due to this TD, our temps should be on the milder side and I'm certainly all for that. Anything below 90 is mild.

I think everyone needs a break. Looks like there will be something else to track very very soon.

Yeah probably. I wonder if they will upgrade this to a tropical storm in the TCR? The data earlier backed up such...

Well, while the number of tropical cyclones that have hit Texas after this date are few and far between, it is almost prime time for the Central and Eastern Gulf. Just the past few years, Georges, Lili, Opal, Wilma, a much weakened Mitch, go back just a few more years, Juan, and Kate was a bordelrine Cat 2/Cat 3 when it hit very close to where TD #10 hit, in mid-November.

I've been away a couple of hours but doesn't it look like it's moving more westward now than a few hours ago? I hope this doesn't turn out to be one of those weak systems that doesn't know it's inland and keeps trying to hang on.

Where exactly did TD 10 make landfall in Florida? Is it staying together as we speak or is it beginning to fall apart and according to the latest track from the NHC as of 7:00 p.m., CDT. it looks like it will still track through Mississippi just north of the coast and I want to know if I can expect to receive any weather from what's left of this system as it passes to my north tomorrow or will it be sunny skies for me here in Biloxi tomorrow?

Well thanks for the information but can you tell me if I can expect to receive anything from what's left of TD 10 as it passes to my north tomorrow or will it be sunny skies as usual? My local forecast on the 8's on TWC says I can expect a 20% chance of showers with winds of 5 to 10 mph and a high tomorrow of 86. That doesn't sound like very rough weather considering what's left of TD 10 looks like it will pass pretty close to my N tomorrow.Brent wrote:THIS IS THE LAST PUBLIC ADVISORY ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL HURRICANE

It made landfall right on Destin,FL in SE Okaloosa county. It's falling apart as we speak, even the core of thunderstorms over the panhandle right now is only packing 15-20mph winds. You might get some scattered showers tomorrow from what's left but that's about it, most of the area will probably be cleared out by tomorrow afternoon.attallaman wrote:Where exactly did TD 10 make landfall in Florida? Re: Tropical Depression TEN: Discussions & Images
So, any idea how much rain we can expect from this on the Northshore? I know it will weaken, but should we expect a good rain event or little to nothing?

I went to WWL-TV4's website in NOLA and played a short weather video clip on their homepage by head MET Karl Arredondo who basically said if you're on the Mississippi gulf coast to not expect much weather out of this system as it passes to my north.Opal storm wrote:It made landfall right on Destin,FL in SE Okaloosa county.
