I don't believe thats correct....approximately 1500 feet is the norm isn't it?? I know they sample at various altitudes....but i think you'll find 1500 is normal. Its also measured in meters on the HDOBS

MAX height on Invests is 1500ft.

Wow . . . I'm glad we're all so aware here.

FYI . . . 10,000 feet is for hurricanes (700mb level)
850mb level (I forget how many feet) is typical TS, though this is the one that will vary the most.
Anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500 feet is typical in invests and weak TS's.

This mission . . . it's ~270m, which would be approximately 1000 ft.

sorrry...this is a low level invest...so you are correct i do believe...for true TCs it is 10000 ft i believe.

yes and no.... if they find 45kt winds they'll pass that along to CARCAH and its his decision on whether they ascend up to 5000ft or not.

10,000ft (700mb) for Hurricanes
5,000ft (850mb) for TS and weak Hurricanes
1,500ft (~1000-925mb) for LLI, TD and weak TS.

these are MAX altitudes.
