Not a single severe weather warning...

#1 Postby bob rulz » Tue Sep 25, 2007 2:39 pm

...in the Lower 48. Has anyone ever seen this happen before?

In the Fall? Yeah, it's more common than you think, especially around this time of the year. This is usually the calm before the Fall severe season kicks in.

Well, I figured that if there's any month that it would happen it would be September. I haven't been following the weather really closely for very long, but it still comes as a surprise to me. There's usually at least a wind advisory or lingering flood advisory somewhere.

You jinxed it. ;)

However, this is the time where you can get some pretty calm weather before the sharp cold fronts start to dig down, especially if you have a strong ridge of high pressure in the Eastern half of the country then the weather can typically be quite calm.

There was a severe thunderstorm warning in southern IA early this afternoon.

There were a couple in Michigan today that I saw. But now it's back to almost nothing; one single frost advisory in the Klamath Basin of Oregon and California.

Sept is one of the quietest months for severe wx, usually.

Oh, I know. That's why I figured that if there were a time for no severe weather warnings, it would be in September.
