many areas are already down into the 60s...and it is only 9pm!

9pm temperatures:

IAH - 69˚
Hooks - 66˚
Conroe - 64˚
Hobby - 72˚

Based on the current trends...I think lows in the 50s north of I-10 are looking to be a good bet tonight.

6am temperatures...

IAH - 66˚ (up from 65˚ at 5am)
Hooks - 61˚ (up from 60˚ at 5am)
Conroe - 58˚
Hobby - 66˚

My thermometer: 60˚

These readings are a few degrees higher than I expected this morning, but they do still have some time to fall. I wouldn't be surprised to see 1-2 more degrees shaved off at 7am. Either way..at least for my thermometer..this is the coolest morning so far this fall season.

It sure is nice, for October anyways. Looks like last weekend was the last call for the pool. At least I could use it into October, which isn't bad. I had a pool-closing party with a nice brisket & chicken on the smoker. Yummy!!

Now let's bring on the fall mini-storm season....and the countdown to Pool Season 2008 begins for me...only 6 more l-o-n-g months to go...

Are y'all ready for some wintry precip? It'll be showing up on the long range GFS before we know it.

Last night's official lows included 62 at IAH, 59 at Hooks and 58 at Conroe.

It looks like we can happily expect more of the same tonight and tomorrow night before seeing a warmup (highs into the mid to upper 80s...lows into the upper 60s to near 70) by early next week. The models then try to indicate another front by late next week or next weekend, which would be quite nice if it panned out.

12z run of the GFS shows a strong cold frontal passage this upcoming Friday night. Behind the front, it is showing highs only in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s and lower 50s next weekend. What a great change that would be if it played out! :D

I know! I was enjoying the cooler fall-like weather... I guess back to somewhat normal for this week and another front to look forward to next weekend!

When are we going to get those fronts that have a huge squall line and drop by like 30 degrees in 10 minutes? I cant wait for those!!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the front next weekend. After the wonderful fall temps we had Friday and Saturday I'm not looking forward to the muggies coming back tomorrow. Bring on the 40's!

The 18z GFS has backed off a tad on the intensity of the front..but it is still showing highs near 80˚ and lows in the mid 50s at IAH this upcoming weekend. We shall now wait and see what the 00z GFS has to say tonight. Hopefully it goes back to showing an even stronger front like the 12z did...

One thing I notice is that the NWS is being very conservative with this weekends front. They are calling for highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the low to mid 60s. Hopefully this doesn't end up meaning a weaker front. I would really be upset if that is only as cool as we got.

I think they need to raise rain chances for today. 50% seems quite low considering current trends.
