Car thumpers!

#1 Postby southerngale » Tue Oct 09, 2007 9:00 pm

Why do some people think that people in OTHER cars want to hear their awful music? I was sitting at a light today and the idiot next to me had his truck thumping so loud, I thought the drink in my car was going to spill. My music was loud enough, but just for me... I don't play it so loud as to force others to listen to what I'm listening to, but I had to turn mine off because his was drowning mine out. It's so rude! I thought about saying something to him, but didn't for two reasons: If I had rolled my window down, I was sure to become deaf (if not, the ridiculous sound would have surely eaten away a few brain cells)... and because he wouldn't have been able to hear me anyway. I was about 1/2 car back from him, in the next lane, so while I was parallel to the back end of his truck, I wouldn't have been able to get his attention since he was a little ahead of me. When the light turned green, I passed him and he glanced over and smiled before I could give him the evil eye. lol I just shook my head and drove on.

Hey thumpers... turn it down. You look ridiculous.

I have to admit, I am a bit of a thumper, but only when the windows are shut.

Just kidding. Did I make ya nervous?

Seriously though, where was the cop to hand out the noise violation?

That annoys me to no end. My problem with them is my ears are so sensitive to something that loud. After less than a minute of being forced to listen to that crud, i'll have a splitting headache and my ears will ring. And don't try to turn up your music, it makes the bass of theirs even louder.

Uh oh, I'm in trouble. lol

Can't lie I'm bit of a thumper, not ridiculously loud like Godzilla is coming around the block but loud enough to where you could here me at a red light. I have a good sound system in my car and love to pump it up sometimes. But I only turn it up that loud when I'm on major roads, I don't do that in neighborhoods because I myself find it a bit annoying when I can hear it in my house.

Living a few houses away from the main Interstate I can hear these guys flying by all the time. Mind you they are going 55-75 mph but it amazes me that I can still hear them in my house with the doors and windows shut. I don't know how that can be enjoyable being inside a car that frickin loud. Guess Im getting old. lol.

Its really annoying to be sitting at a light and your windows are shaking and rattling from their stereos. Ive become somewhat immune since its so common around here, my husband starts cussin though when we are in the car together and pull up beside one. Also just as annoying are those loud mufflers peeps install on their usually tiny little cars to make them sound 15 times louder as they accelerate and change gears. Why oh why would you want to make your car sound louder, like it needs a new muffler? :grrr:

I get annoyed by that too, but I used to be one when I was a kid so I don't get too upset about it. :)

Imagine hearing that at 2:00 in the morning. That's what me and my family had to deal with in a rundown neighborhood over 5 years ago.

They want to be heard. They think that they have the coolest music and they want everyone to hear how cool they are. You make eye contact or react to them in any way, and they get gratification. How do I know that? because I have the coolest music and I want everyone to hear how cool I am.

When they have the music so loud they can't hear all the little rattles and squeaks the car will make as it vibrates so much to the point where the screws holding things together fall out and pieces of the car fall off.

Okay, so you caught me. Yeah, I'm the old guy in the Ford work truck. The music I had cranked was Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones. I cannot help myself. It's not my fault. Blame Richard Nixon......he took a good portion of my hearing away.

Well hey there Ron, long time no see. Hope all is well ;) from reading your profile, i send my best wishes and sorrows for you and your wife...

On the topic...I live in a decent neighborhood with about 6 cops as neighbors. Their squadcars are parked in the front of their houses and yet these idiots still drive by with the bass going...it sounds like their car is ready to explode...and the bad thing is, im 23 years old and i dont do it, id like to keep my hearing ty and the people who do it round my parts are 30s and 40s...

its very odd...

well there is my few cents!

I have subs in my car but I am not an idiot with them. I don't have them as loud as they can go. I want my hearing to last a few more years. I just added them to enhance the sound of my music. I do listen to heavy metal sometimes though.

I do hate the loud exhausts though. That's a bit rediculous.

If my windows are down and one of those idiots come by or are stopped at a light next to me, I roll up the windows. I can't stand it.

I understand "drowning" yourself in your favorite music, but come on!
