Ohio Winter....What's in store for us??
I have heard and seen many things about this winter....some say warm some say snowy some say above normal..I am no pro...but i have a gut feeling we may be surprised this year..Don't know why!! I do like looking at weather folklore..lot's of accorns this year..tons..suppose to mean a bad winter..And the leaves because of the dry weather i'm sure are hardly even changing yet...way late for here..and late colors suppose to mean bad winter. And i remember the blizzard of "78" and how mild it was with rain untill well, we all know what happened after that.Have not seen any hornets nest yet,to see how low they are..The lower they are the worse winter will be..supposedly...so we shall see!! Last year on this date it was 75 degrees here..Right now we sit at 55 degrees..35 degree swing from 3 days ago.

I'm with you - no pro but wonder if we're in for a bad winter too. We are long, long overdue, let's just put it that way. This is probably why I think we may get slammed. People have become too complacent and believe winters to be mild now (Midwest/Ohio Valley). Heck, my daughters (17 and 20) do not even wear coats anymore! LOL (the traditional winter coats I mean, with gloves and hats, they both wear zip up fleece, and that's it!).
If my daughters had to go thru a winter like I remember, 77 and 78, they'd be wearing coats, gloves, hats....LOL
I think I wore half my wardrobe back then, on a daily basis! Brrrrr!
Many of us thought the next ice age was starting.....seriously. I didn't even see my lawn for 3 months, one of those winters. The grass had at least several inches of snow, that never melted, for 3 straight months. Which is unheard of, for Cincinnati. Now if it snows, you'd better get outside to enjoy it b/c in a few hours it could all melt.
