The NAM is the NAM, but the strong tropical storm moving north in the Caribbean at 84 hours looks interesting.

I assume you are talking about the area in the SE Bahamas? It has caught my eye. If you click the visible loop I see some kind of rotation already.

Nice close up of area off Miami. You can see a slight spin off the south east coast of Andros Island. (Click on "Visable Satillite Loop in the upper right hand corner). Loop courtesy of College of DuPage Weather Lab:

LIttle Swirl and Heavy Rain in South Florida

#7 Postby fci » Tue Oct 16, 2007 10:37 pm

We have had over 4 inches of rain and 2-4 more inches may fall from a low forming right off the coast of Broward and Palm Beach County. It's actually a nice looking little swirl!

Latest AFD from Miami:
Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Miami Florida
1047 PM EDT Tuesday Oct 16 2007

Update...surface observation and radar imagery show that weak low
pressure may have formed just off the northern Broward County
coast...between Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton. The convergent
flow on the north side of this feature continues to result in
widespread rainfall across the Palm Beach metropolitan area. We
will be continuing an urban flood advisory for this area as
training continues over eastern Palm Beach County. Given the fact that
heavy rainfall has already fallen across this area...and with the
potential for bands of heavy rain continuing to the north of this
weak circulation overnight...decided that it is prudent to Post a
Flood Watch for the Palm Beach metropolitan area for the overnight hours.

make that a lot of rain

west palm beach has had 4 inches at least, and here in boca by the water has had nearly 2 inches

a weak low spinning off shore just south of palm beach is causing alot of tropical moisture and training storms on the north side in central palm beach. There are alot of urban flood warnings

Local met didnt say anything about development. Just rain tonight. Already had some light rain here. Rain coming from the north towards me...Sky very dark to the east with no stars then theres a line of light white clouds. Very tropical look and feel out there.

I wouldn't call it a LLC. It resembles a weak mesoscale convective complex to me.

EDIT: Okay, I didn't read the AFD. At any rate I went ahead and merged these two threads since they popped up at about the same time, and are about the same thing.

The other thread about the "Little Low Too Form off the FL Coast" is also related to this topic.

Anyway, the 5:30am TWO mentions this system now:

A SMALL AREA OF LOW PRESSURE NEAR THE SOUTHEAST FLORIDA COAST IS
PRODUCING SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE
FORECAST TO BE UNFAVORABLE FOR DEVELOPMENT AS THIS SYSTEM MOVES
NORTHWARD TO NORTH-NORTHEASTWARD OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO.

Around 11:00 PM last night I noticed a spin in the radar off of Broward. And, it rained a lot last night. I hope the lake got some of the rain.

Spiral off Florida over Gulf Stream. Florida on dry side. Will it deepen and develop?

I heard we ended up with about 7 inches of rain here.
However it was very localized and mainly near the coast so the Lake proabably got very little.

correct the lake got "none"

the nhc.noaa.gov radar will show precip amounts of the past hour and also "storm history"
(when a storm occurs) and this shows none for the lake mostly an event from 441 eastward and confined to palm beach

http://www.weatherunderground.com/satel ... 1k/US.html

this little visible loop shows me a LLC becoming a bit better organized over the gulf stream 50 miles east of fort pierce , looks like i was wrong in my last post trusting the TWO's assement

this may be an invest soon

here's betting the 530 two will say "conditions appear to have become marginally favorable"

Heading north into high shear. The Gulf Stream doesn't seem to mean anything now.
