Wonder if handedness has anything to do with it? I'm left handed.
I'm right handed and I could only see clockwise. I think the ones who say they see counter-clockwise are just trying to trick us.
lol, I thought the same thing at first too. How can it be?? What works for me is staring at her legs for a while without blinking, kinda like those old pictures that look like a bunch of dot till you stare at it forever, and then she starts turning the other way. But I can only make it happen for a second. Also in my peripheral vision she seems to be going opposite while I was reading the article. But just looking at her without trying shes going clockwise every single time.

Mine was right brained but with a lot of concentration I could see it going the other way. I'm right handed but I have a lot of left tendencies.

What side of the brain was I using if I was focusing mostly on her "top half"?

I checked this out earlier and I saw it spinning one way. I just checked again now, and it is spinning the opposite direction.

one uses both, although the degree to which this occurs varies largely.
artists more so right brained, etc.
I think the amount of seratonin in the brain increases right brain activity, because seratonin is the neurotransmitter for creativity and thinking outside the box
dopamine and noradrenaline are the neurotransmitters for motivation, reward, and focus and also habit (good or bad) also i think it could lead to more stubborn behavior.
I believe drugs like adderal, caffeine, (some drugs that resemble white powder) and such are all in the dopamine , noradrenaline category, while california poppy (legal) , tryptophan, and THC increase seratonin

My daughter who fits the left brain characteristics perfectly can only see her dancing clockwise. Hmmmm......
Same here . . . I see it clockwise, but I'm a full-out left-brainer, with some marginal right-brain characterstics as well.

I opened up the gif and there are 34 frames in this gif .. all of them define one full rotation … so it is up to your brain
at first I was way way right brained and it frustrated me that i couldnt see it with my left brain till i figured out the trick
what i did was focus on just her legs for a few seconds and when she is spinning CW.. and her leg thats off the ground is in front of the pivot … i would tell myself that is behind
and when the leg is behind the pivot leg … and i would tell my brain it is in front .. kept saying that for a few seconds till i could see it spinning CCW
it would help if you scroll down to hide her upper body and just focus on the legs
