One airliner is said to have "clipped" the other
Two aircraft have collided while taxiing on the ground at Heathrow Airport in West London.

It is understood that one is a British Airways Boeing 747 and the other is a Sri Lankan Airbus A340 jet.

The London Fire Brigade has confirmed that no-one has been injured in the incident which happened at 2213 BST.

The brigade said that one aircraft "clipped" the other but there were no reports of fire and neither plane sustained any damage.

The really disturbing part is that very close calls happen every day. It's amazing that more incidents don't occur.

That's the worst aviation accident on record. 583 people died. I am surprise right now this has not happened with all those near misses and that recent collision.

The worst mid-air collision was on November 12, 1996 in Chaki Dahdri, India. A Saudi Arabian Airlines 747 collided with a Kazastan Airlines IL-76. 349 people died in the crash. All 312 on the 747 and all 37 on the IL-76.

This photograph of both planes was taken a short time before the collision.
