For the cell/hook on the southern end of the line . . . rather strong wording, but this has velocity couplets that are comparable to the Lyon County cell about a half-hour ago. The couplet has become less impressive over the past 10-15 minutes, but it's still plenty healthy.

I know what you mean . . . I'd really like to take a peak at the Michigan storms, but the four to six tornados we have in KY are keeping me plenty busy right now.

Joe B pinned this event. I read it over at the tropical forum when someone posted he stated the weak tropical low moving across the TX Coast yesterday would lead one of the biggest severe weather events for the month of October.

According to radar, Owensboro may have taken a direct hit. Hopefully the storm reports that start coming in indicate there was no tornado.

(US Census, Owensboro population is 54,312 in 2003)

LSR coming in late from a previous "likely" tornado . . . mentions a confirmed tornaodo 2 miles south of Dawson Springs, with individuals trapped in a mobile home and emergency responders enroute.

If you remember, this is the northernmost of the four cells I highlighted earlier. This is also the cell causing the warning currently out for Muhlenberg County, though the rotation has noticeably weakend over the past 10 minutes.

It's just beginning to move over the lake. Has only weak rotation now, as every storm going up has at least some weak rotation given the shear.

Cell just west of Louisville has refired, now has a very impressive velocity couplet on it with its new TOR.

The Lyon County cell finally got a confirmation LSR, though I think the time on it is off.

I saw it went rainwrapped right as it was moving into town . . . at dusk, I'm sure that was a particularly dangerous situation. Too bad the citizens weren't "watch"ing for one of those.

Rain-wrapped HP supercells can really sneak up on you...

Looks like mean cells in SE Indiana, headed towards Cincinnati?

All these supercells are capable of big tornadoes.

Kinda similar to June 2, 1990 at this point...

The cell near Louisville is now scraping the northern suburbs of the city (in IN), and appears to be cycling. Two BWERs appear to be evident, so we may see one of those updrafts become dominant and allow the storm to restrengthen, as the velocity presentation right now is pretty lackluster.

Clockwise from top right: BR 0.4 degrees, 1.3 degrees, 3.1 degrees, and 2.4 degrees.
