You know Hurricane season is over when....

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

You know Hurricane season is over when....

#1 Postby DanKellFla » Mon Oct 22, 2007 2:38 pm

You know Hurricane season is over when....

Somebody mentions "Hurricanes" and you think of football instead of fronts.

The first page you look at on Storm2k is "off topic."

You wake up in the morning and don't automatically check the NHC website for possible tropical development.

You stop checking the cyclone genesis models thrice daily so you can warn your friends and co-workers before the news does.

The gas cans in your garage are empty.

The most active topics have nothing to do with Tropical Weather or anything Weather related.

Nobody yells at me for putting this in 'Talkin Tropics' instead of 'Off Topics.'

Berwick Bay types a poem.

You stop posting model tracks on your cubicle.

The X-mas decorations show up in stores.

...... Help me out here. :D

I harvested my pumpkin patch. My emergency evac bag is hiding in the closet under a bunch of shoes. Two weeks ago we ate beignets while sitting below sea level next to the levee. This time next monday I'll be on St Kitts, West Indies for a much needed R&R. It's over. I hope.

You know hurricane season is over when....

You no longer get excited about model runs showing something.

The first page you look at on Storm2k is "off topic."

This one is true.

You know hurricane season is over when Cycloneye is the only one browsing in the "Active storms" forum.

You know hurricane season is over when Jim Cantore's tan is 3 shades lighter.

You know hurricane season is over when Steve Lyons doesn't even bother mentioning anything east of the lesser antilles.

You know hurricane season is over when you hear "oh..the season doesn't end until December, we could still get the BIG ONE!"

You know hurricane season is over when you stop hearing people saying what JB said this morning about "big potential in the GOM next week"....and then nothing happens.

You hope for a Cold Front instead of a Tropical system. :cold:

you want freezing weather instead of a hurricane

The temps in SFL go below 80 degrees at night.

Hmm, I don't check the NHC anymore, but I still check the NRL twice daily no matter what month.

You might be a hurricane nut if...

You know Hurricane Season is over when people I disagree with are.......

looking in unusual places for storms.
making up facts instead of forecasts.
slowly vanishing.

You know the season is over when the words "cut-off low" is enough to strike hope into the hearts of people I disagree with.

You beat me too it.

.... when you dig up Cantores thread of "you might be a hurricane nut if..." to add something you think is clever.

You know its over when...

You resort to turning your electric fan to the highest setting and ossicallting when you are going to bed, trying to simulate a hurricane in your bedroom, and tell yourself to try to dream of a wild hurricane .

It's 52 degrees in Pensacola with a strong northwest wind (per the 6 a.m. observation this morning)...

The remaining "favorable areas" now seem confined to the western Caribbean and Bahamas - which is normal for even the winter months, so...

Ironically, the current statewide temps are almost identical to those observed when Hurricane Wilma crossed the state two years ago (this graphic will change):

It's the first time since May that you haven't looked at Storm2k Talkin Tropics forum for 24 hours.
