10:00 that morning... the hurricane was totally gone, along with any clouds.
10:05 that morning... wind howls, temperature plummets to about 45.

Quite an odd day.

It got that cold after Wilma?

Cold front directly followed her. I'm sure it didn't get THAT low, but it did dip into the 50's.

That cold front is what carried her into Florida in the first place.

One of the worst cold fronts Florida has ever seen no doubt.

Hurricane Wilma was something. It profoundly affected the areas it affected. Wilma is the third most costliest storm . Wilma by itself without Katrina and Rita would of made 2005 memorable. It is amazing that Mexico suffered very little loss of life from Wilma despite being over them for days. It could of easily killed hundreds or thousands. I feel for the people affected by Wilma and still has an effect to this very day 2 years ago.

The "worst" cold front Florida has seen was probably the unseasonable one in August 2004 that drew Charley up and across the peninsula. And it was a legitimate cold front; it's not often you see an ob like this on a Friday afternoon in August in Pensacola (dewpoint in the 50s):

400 PM EDT FRI AUG 13 2004

NOTE: "FAIR" INDICATES FEW OR NO CLOUDS BELOW 12,000 FEET WITH NO
SIGNIFICANT WEATHER AND/OR OBSTRUCTIONS TO VISIBILITY.

that same cold front that sucked Charley northward sheared Bonnie apart just before landfall. It saved Florida from a shoe-in hurricane, along with bringing Charley

I was just so happy it got so cool after Wilma, being without power it sure made sleeping easier, with open windows.

I prepared myself for clean-up after the storm. After experiencing Fances and Jean, I was an "expert". I had an old t-shirt, a pair of ratty shorts and some old shoes on me. As soon as the wind and rain died down I went outside to start cleaning up. So much for my expertise. My first thought was, "COLD?!?!?! It's COLD?!?!? What???" And then I went inside and dug out an old sweater and got to work. I was grateful for the cool temperatures. It made it easier on my kids, one of which was a little baby at the time.

At this point 2 years ago, Wilma was huge and racing north...moving like 50 mph with a windfield of about 500 miles wide...
