So far, we're still fairly low wind and dry. How is it in the BVI's?

So far we have recieved 1.93" for today.

I have had a pot of homemade chicken soup on the stove since morning.

At approx. 6:30 pm we lost power for about 40 minutes and ran the generator for a bit. A reminder for everyone that may have a generator they should run it at least once a month for maintenance purposes.

It is chilly down here at 78 but really at this point not much wind. The dampness is what makes us want to bundle up.

It looks like this may still linger for a day or so more so stay warm and dry and for those areas that are prone to mudslides, PLEASE stay indoors if you can.

MJ, I am glad to hear you have been spared the rain. Our pool has overflowed but the quebrada at least is flowing fine. Does anyone know if the ferries are running or flights?

Well, we haven't been exactly spared the rain, Karen! :) I don't know the amounts here, but I did see where you got quite a bit which skimmed by us at some point. We also lost power island wide for quite awhile (pretty cool view from up here, I could hear people talking a mile way) and I fell asleep. Woke up a few minutes ago to power restored and wind and rain which only lasted a little while. It's still raining lightly but the winds have died back again. I thought we were in for it again, but it seems it was just a small cell passing through.

78F is chilly? Wow, that's quite warm for me and I could go outside with just a shirt in that weather. Tomorrow morning will be around 31F for me and I don't bundle up excessively for that even :cold: .

FIGUEROA

Good morning fellow Caribbean members. It continued to rain for the first part of the night, but it calmed down in the overnight hours. It looks like one more day of periods of rain in bands as NOEL moves slowly thru Haiti.I continue to pray for those in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. With the rain event of sunday alone there were reports of rivers over their banks with people being evacuated but no deaths were reported here yesterday.3-5 more inches fell mainly in Southern and in the central PR mountains.

Good morning everyone! Luis, I'm so relieved to hear your good news this morning that no deaths reported yesterday in PR and weather is moderating!!! Our rain quit last night probably around 7pm. Good call by officials to continue the FF watch, grounds are soggy.

The sun is out in STT finally.....though over the weekend, we set two new low temperature records of 66 degrees on Saturday and Sunday....it was funny watching the Weather Channel yesterday as the temperature was warmer at 10:00pm than at 3:00pm in the afternoon....I don't know our rainfall amounts, I'm just glad to see the sun....our thoughts are with everyone in the DR and Haiti....stay safe

Same clearing up here. The sun is playing peek a boo a bit but I think it is going to win the day. Thoughts with those in the DR and Haiti, and those cleaning up on the big island today.

report from dominican republic thanks to stormcarib:

- This one cought us by surprise
From: "Guillermo A. Serra Espaillat" <gaquiles at gmail.com>
Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2007 06:58:45 -0400

Good morning...

As I am writing, there is heavy rain and gusty winds, the wind thing is new today because yesterday, although a bit windy, not so much gusting like right now.

The Dominicans got absolutely not warning at all, no nothing, I am very disappointed about the respond to this one, seems like we can not do nothing if a TD is upgraded to TS right on us (a bit to the south).

There are currently red alert for 6 provinces including the National District and yellow alert for 12 provinces. 600 peoples have been evacuated though not located in any shelter, unbelievable. 148 houses reported destroyed by flooding.

We didn't had power for the entire night, power went back on 1 hour ago, and as I am writing, we lost it again, we are running on a generator.

Stay tuned...

I was serious, really wanted to buy water. Now, normally it ain't scary at all to get up here. With all the rain we had it's different.

This morning still a lot of rain. Everything is the house is moist. Not because of leaks but the relative cool temps ( low seventies) and 100% humidity are causing this. We woke up without power and water. Power came back a while ago- water from the tanks. :)

It's dry now. :D

I got cabin fever myself yesterday during a lull and I wasn't the only one...people were coming out to check how our world was doing everywhere I went! Glad we all stayed safe here on the board. Hope the best for the rest.
