Boy, are ridges dominant this year? This little ridge over the SW Atlantic has pushed this storm almost due west since emerging off the north coast of Haiti. If this storms ends up south of Cuba near 80 or 81W, hail to the Euro as it predicted this 3 days ago.

this is likely not going to make the Caribbean. This slowdown is indicative of a VERY sharp turn

Usually it the wind speed that will determine if Miami airport is going to close or not. I am not sure what the sustained wind speed threshold that would be. Maybe someone can answer that.

The updated track on the loops show that it will skirt the sw coast of that area of Cuba. The tracks have been horrible, so who really knows.

ANd I would add look at Water Vapor. You can see a complete flattening of the Western edge. Something is impinging on it to have that look and for the slow down to have occurred,

Look at the poof of clouds on the middle left of that image racing NE. Noel has hit the wall, in my opinion.

I'm confident now that this will turn and we probably won't get a drop of rain out of this other than quick showers.I'm not cancelling any outside Halloween plans for tomorrow. This system will hit that brick wall. The trough in the GOM is starting to move east. Say hello to heavy water restrictions for the dry season folks.

Looking at cuban radar(even though its 1 hour old) ..it almost looks like the system has hit the brakes, and has floated back to the north ....looks like a real sharp turn coming, anyways my confidence is high that the recurvature is taking place as we speak ,looks as if the system will pass well east of Southern Florida ,even east of Andros island IMO. Wow the pro mets were right..who knew..lol ok on to basketball season...lets go Heat!!!

I concur, boca. It looks like Noel's hit "just another brick in the wall"! I would not be surprised if we observe another eastward shift in the cone, as Noel's slower motion could support a faster NNE motion and recurvature over the Bahamas. Kudos to the professional meteorologists here. People criticize the NHC, but the NHC eventually proves they made the correct decision with no unnecessary TS watches. Thank you for your excellent service, NHC!

THANK YOU DEREK! FOLKS, when Derek says Noel is moving Northeast, pay attention.
I REALLY APPRECIATE someone like Derek affirmatively stating the Noel is no threat whatsoever to FL.

I am sure my friends in Florida must be happy. :)

destruction92 wrote:Okay, enough of this...in the latest advisory, Noel is forecast to be BETWEEN Andros Island and the SE Florida coastline...HOW CAN they NOT post a tropical storm watch??? Watches are to be issued 36 HOURS IN ADVANCE. We are closing in on 24 hours now.

Seriously, there are no tropical storm watches posted anywhere BUT THERE ARE TROPICAL STORM WARNINGS FOR ALL THE BAHAMAS. Would it not make sense to issue a tropical storm watch SOMEWHERE BY NOW....

Someone please cure my Confuseditis, but is it true that whenever any watches or warnings are posted for the SE Florida coastline, the South Florida economy (i.e. tourism, government office closings, etc.) goes down temporarily and loses money. If this is a money issue, by no means should FINANCIAL reasons ever be placed in front of SAFETY reasons.

AND THE LATEST NOGAPS MODEL SHOWS NOEL TO MAKE A SOUTH FLORIDA LANDFALL FOR PETE'S SAKE! IT'S ON THE STORM2K HOMEPAGE!

It's dinner time! 8-)
