Re: Threat Areas: Outerbanks to Maine,Eastern Canada,Bermuda
Hello,
My name's Josh, and I'm posting from outside Truro, Nova Scotia. Specifically, Belmont Mountain area, which is about 500 feet higher than all surrounding land. Here's an update.
Pressure has dropped 8 MB in past 3 hours. Absolutely no winds. *Note, 30 seconds later, the winds started to pick up to about 3 knot from SE*
Truro is just outside the predicted Hurricane Force wind zone (as of yesterday), but they're suggesting that the entire province may encounter hurricane force winds, due to the sheer size of it. Whereas I'm in peak wind area, chances are fairly good that I'll have near Hurricane Force winds for a fairly long time. Besides, Noel has strengthened and they're now predicting 85-90K at landfall.

Re: Threat Areas: Outerbanks to Maine,Eastern Canada,Bermuda
Winds have been picking up. Pressure is continuing to drop, down 2 MB since last post. Later this afternoon, I expect it will drop significantly, upwards of 5 MB per hour.
At one point, my wind gauge picked up a 36 KM/h gust. That's alarming, considering the storm isn't supposed to be close to landfall for another 8 hours or so.
Sustained winds are at at least 15 KM/H. Not bad considering it was completely calm just a few hours ago.

The Boston College-FSU game out to be interesting in this wind.
Son just called from Breton Pt. on Newport, RI and said it's quite an awesome wind. (I'm not sure how to translate "awesome" into an actual windspeed.

Are you going to go outside during the peak of the storm? I would if there isn't debris flying around.
Many more reports of wires and trees down in Plymouth, Bristoal, and Barnstable Counties. Most significant report thus far is a roof blown off a car wash in Fairhaven.
How come car wash roof's always blow off so easily?
